A lot actually. First off the first time was hardly a duck. Hopkins wanted 3 million upstraight, not 1.5 which is what he would what he would have gotten with deductions and ****.

But then Hopkins fought someone else for less money than that anyway.

Also Hopkins really had no reason to fight Calzaghe in the first place and the win would have been menningless because Calzaghe's best win was Eubank and he struggled with Reid.

Dawson's best win is Tarver and he struggled with Johnson. So neither Calzaghe or Hopkins should fight Dawson?

If Hopkins would have beaten Calzaghe, one Calzaghe would have been forgotten and two Calzaghe struggled with Reid, so Hopkins wouldn't have gotten much credit anyway.

He would've beaten the top guy in a higher division. That gets you more credit than most of Hopkins' title defences.

If Calzaghe beats Hopkins again, he won't get much credit either.

If the fight is a clear win people will say that Calzaghe couldn't beat 43 year old Hopkins clearly, but he beat 44 year old Hopkins. This proves that the only reason Calzaghe did better is because Hopkins got older.

If the fight is just as close, then people will say it proves nothing.

Hopkins really wanted a huge payday and was looking for someone who could give him that. Calzaghe's camp couldn't.
