if calzaghe was american he probably wouldn't have been the wbo champion back in the days.

    we would've seen calzaghe-hopkins and calzaghe-jones a lot sooner.

I think people easily throw around this ATG stuff these days, The same people on this forum who dont want to consider Mayweather an ATG want to consider Joe calzaghe as one.

Maybe the bar has been lowered like the HOF'er but for its sad when people just start anointing you an ATG just because you're undeafeated....I guess sven ottke is an ATG.

my definition of atg is if you can argue he was the best ever in his division or multiple divisions.

i don't want to give him atg status though because his division hasn't been around a long time.

Usually hall of fame'ers are remembered and honored for their great fights, so no.

A boxer should be American, and definitely has to be black to be considered an all time great.

If he's not an American and black, he has to be twice as good as an American black fighter before they'll call him great. If he's not an American and white, no matter what he does or who he beats, he'll never be considered great.

close your eyes and think of Muhammed Ali, the greatest sportsman in history in any sport. think of him beating frazier, foreman and all comers. think of his speed, his grace, his humour, his class, his ability.....

now imagine that he is WHITE!

ok i stole it from a film, but it applies here lol
