He still beat good fighters early in his career. Beating Sweet Pea at that time is still a great win.

Exactly. Not sure Oscar gets as much credit as he deserves for this win. Pea was not totally shot by any means and still presented a very tough challenge.

calzaghe tried to sell a fight with a shot roy jones as a fair fight. pumping all this money into 24/7 and the promos and tv spots, just so he can beat down a shot guy to "prove" he was a great fighter. SORRY NO. at least oscar was good at one time where as calzaghe never was and is pretending he is.

I second that. Personally I loved seeing Oscar literally force feed Fernando his own words in the 11th. ****y ******* deserved it. Completely disrespectful, and tasteless the **** Fernando was saying about Oscar.

Fast forward after the fight and you know Vargas was kicking himself in the ass for that crap.

Just to take a break from the endless Joe-Roy threads, I thought I would start this one.

I just read a thread where ppl where throwing around **** like "Oscar lost all his big fights" and all that crap. What a joke. I understand some ppl hate him now because he has let the business side take over, but you have to at least acknowledge how great this man has been. He is a true legend and an all time great. He is another of the fighter's I have grown up watching and I cannot believe the attitudes of some of the "boxing fans" on here towards his career achievements. Dislike him as a person, sure, but to say he has had anything short of a fantastic career? How ridiculous is that?

Wins over Quartey, Vargas, Mayorga, JCC, Leija, Whitaker, Carr, Gatti, Sturm, should have gotten the wins against Mosley in their second fight and Tito. On top of this he fights to a SD loss against the p4p number 1 guy in the sport despite being past his best.

Oscar is an ATG ppl, stop with the fkn hating.

he most definetly did nto beat sturm. and neither did he beat whitaker. Quartay fight was close. could of went either way I guess. But I edge quartay.

oscar is one of the most overrated fighters ever.
