If Calzaghe decides to fight Dawson, Joe will be in for a real fight. He better not underestimate Chad. The kid is the real deal. He's a much better fighter having gone through the Glen Johnson war, and the confidence gained by dominating Tarver. Eddie Mustafa is the perfect trainer for him.
He beats Johnson easily in a rematch. Calzaghe would be the perfect test for him right now, but I think Chad would beat him.

Facing better opposition? Like who? 44 year old Hopkins who he barely beat? Or 40 year old Jones
43 year old hopkins + 39 year old Jones > 39 year old tarver and Johnson.

and anyone with an iota of boxing knowledge would agree with that sumation.

If we go by how good Dawson supposedly is by these boards, I"m saying it, HE'S WAY OVERRATED.

But Hell, before the Joe *****s come out, Joe is overrated now as well.

I have little respect for him because he waited until Jones was shot to fight him. That's ***** ****.

Not to mention Kessler and Eubank. Lacy was always ****. And i think Joe fans overrate Mikkel just a smidge, but he is a solid technical fighter who could hang with Dawson.

Don't get it twisted, I'm a huge Calzaghe critic, but even I know where to draw the line. And I draw the line at Chad Dawson, if Joe lost to this kid I'd cut off my own **** and eat it. That's how confident I am in the fact that Joe would win.

Roy didn't dodge Calzaghe back in the day that annoys when someone says that especially when there's no proof is at hand to back that up. Joe was a Frank Warren fighter so i think i got a hunch at why fights against the top guys didn't happen earlier in Joe's career.

                Hopkins I give him that

Both Tarver and Johnson were in the top 5 in the LHW when Dawson beat them

That's a ****ing understatement, Kessler ain't done **** since Calzaghe schooled him. He didn't do much before the Calzaghe fight to be fair.

The guy's a good technical fighter was probably top dog at at 168 now that Calzaghe is gone but he ain't gonna set the world alight, and Dawson would beat Kessler IMO.

Regardless of what Calzaghe did or didn't do to earn a shot, Calzaghe had more than a shot at Hopkins in 2002 -- he had a fight arranged with him. So obviously Hopkins must have thought it was worthwhile fighting Calzaghe, yet you don't?

And for the record, Joe beat Brewer and Mitchell around that time. He also beat Rob Reid in 1999. Reid was a tough cookie in his prime, and in fact he pushed Calzaghe way harder than anyone except Eubank. Wins like this are given hardly any credit when in fact they were solid wins over tough opposition. Brewer fought hard for 12 rounds, Mitchell hurt Joe and had him down before being punched around the ring like a rag doll and stopped in the second round, and Reid bombed Joe with heavy right hands all through the fight but lost.

By 2002, Joe had been a world champion for 5 years. You say he didn't deserve a shot at Hopkins and Jones? Even Clinton Woods got a shot at Jones, but what had he done to deserve it? He lost to previous Calzaghe victim David Starie!

So what was Calzaghe going to do fight at MW or make Hopkins move up to Calzaghes best weight class
