I dont know, I think you guys are hyping Lewis more than he deserves.

The Vitali fight is disputed, some say Vitali was beating Lewis and the cut was caused by a wrist and not a glove.

Tua is not great, IMO Mercer is much more impressive.

Tyson was past his prime. Tyson is one of those guys who was a beast, and totally dismantles once he hit a certain age. He was a fraction of what he used to be in that fight.

Golota is well Golota, he was previously DQed in his last two fights. Plus Lewis Koed Golota in 1 round when Golota was high on painkillers which he went into a seizure after the fight.

Rahman was always hyped, he cant counter for the life of him. Plus he KOed Lewis the first time.

Holyfield was a good win, as was Morrison, Botha, Ruddock, and McCall.

Id still say Lewis > Calzaghe though.

Calzaghe has fought mostly past prime fighters but his legacy isnt written yet. He has a few more fights under his belt, he could make them good. That is if he choses to continue.

It's ludicrous to suggest that being unbeaten makes Calzaghe better than Lewis. Marciano had 0 losses. Ali had 5. Does that mean Marciano was better than Ali? The more top class opponents you face, the more chance there is of losing. Lennox tested himself against more top quality opponents, bested them all (except Bowe, who gave up his title rather than fight him), avenged both his losses, and dominated his division more thoroughly. That's why I rate him over Calzaghe.
      Marciano is great.

People come on these boards and bash him when they never researched the guy. He looks sloppy but EVERYONE he fought said he was hard to hit. Marciano is one of the greatest HWs ever.

If you saw a prime RJJ fight on grainy footage he would look easy to hit too.

Lewis is not an all time great heavy, an all time great heavy does not get knocked out by very average boxers, TWICE. Twice, not once, it happened twice.

If Calzaghe had fought Hopkins and Jones a few years ago and was successful then, he may have a shout at this. But as it stands, Lewis had the better career I think. Lewis did, to some degree, have the same problems as Calzaghe in that he didn't get the opportunity to fight the top men in their prime. He did, however, beat recognised names throughout his career and did it in the most illustrious division.

It's too little too late for Calzaghe.
