If tat's your opinion, by all means you're entitled to it but I would think that the majority of the fans who so dearly love this sport would agree with me on the opposite.

And don't bring up Roy's career with me, I hated the son of a ***** from '94 up until Tarver KO'd him in what? '04 or something?

And the knockdown was nothing, Joe shook it off instantly, as he always does. You're comparing a flash knockdown to the damage Roy took to his eye?
I respect the ham and egger more. He doesn't have the connections, the money, or the accolades that someone like Roy Jones Jr. has. Most times, he knows he has no shot.

Yet, on many occassions a ham and egger got in the ring with Roy Jones and was on the receiving end of a not only a beatdown, but made to be the focus of a big joke due to Mr. Jones showboating in the ring.

Legend or not, what goes around comes around.

I'm saying, he should of thrown more punches, just thrown more. In the final rounds of the fight he would put pressure on Joe but not throw anything, he showed he had heart to just go right back on his ass, but that was it.
maybe even roy knew himself, that he calzaghe was just too good at this point...

it was a weird fight. roy gets the knockdown early, then boom all calzaghe after that...

calzaghe is resilient, everybody should admit that...

So you guys think it will come back to haunt Calzaghe later in life like it did Roy?

        Fights:

Larry Holmes beats on an Old Ali. He asks the ref to stop the fight. After the fight, Larry was upset.

Rocky Marciano and Joe Louis. Rocky is said to have taken it careful, which I doubt, and then goes on to KO Louis. After the fight, Rocky went into Joe's locker-room and cried and said I'm sorry.

Calzaghe: laughs it up beating a Shot Legend and seems to take pride in it.

That's your best post in this thread by far in my estimation. Can't really argue with your points, other than to point out that none of those ham and eggers Roy embarassed were severely battered legends like Roy was tonight.

As I said, if it were any other opponet Joe did it to tonight, I wouldn't have even noticed it. But you tend to notice the little details when you're watching a legend recieve a one sided beating.

            Good post.

Seriously, if it would've been any other opponet that Joe did that to tonight I wouldn't have even noticed it. But it wasn't just any other guy, it was a legend who was on his way out.

And boxers have been doing it the respectful way long before Joe Calzaghe was even born. There's a certain amount of respect you should show an aged legend when you've got them in trouble.

There are numerous examples of this ranging from how Rocky Marciano handled the fight with Joe Louis, to how Larry Holmes handled the fight with Ali.

You do it in a respectful manner, it's an unwritten law.
Exactly right. I was thinking of the Ali Holmes fight as well as this was going down. Joe came across as a classless prick in my opinion. Didn't look like he was trying to 'put on a show' or anything like that.

This is kind of how i saw it. I know it was Roy jones in there and he taunted the **** out of people, but as the bringer said, it didint feel like he was putting on a show, it felt more like he was rubbing it in on an old shell of a champion, again im not mad at joe because i mean, again, this is roy jones here. But i dont think i have ever seen one great fighter, treat another great fighter on his way out like this.
