YOu really think that much of Dawson?

I don't know. For a bit I thought he was showing me some serious talent, but I don't know now. It's iffy.

If Calzaghe beat Pavlik or Dawson he would get my respect. I would never say he was one of the best just because the guys in the division were not that great. Hopkins and Jones were the best during this era but he didn't beat them when they were on the top of their game. If he beat Dawson I would respect him a hell of a lot more though.

Like you said earlier, Money. I don't think there was much money fighting some limey prick who nobody heard of, who at that time wouldn't leave Europe to fight anybody. That's why he didn't get any title shots earlier in his career.
I respect Joe plenty. Do I think he could beat a prime RJJ. No.

he already has my respect, and has had it for a long time.

that being said, I hope he decides to fight Dawson or someone else real good. he clearly is not an old fighter yet, and although he will inevitably start going downhill from this point in his career, he can still get plenty of good wins and produce many good fights.

I dont give a **** if he has 'nothing else to prove' or whatever some of you crazy Calzaghe fans say. maybe I just want to continue to see him fight?

Your all missing the ****ing point, Calzaghe could of wanted a fight against the prime boxers of 2000 all he liked the simple fact is he couldnt.

So how you can say he's not great because he didnt fight prime fighters is a non starter, you the USA didnt give him the opportunity.

I think you've all answered the question anway by your desperate digs at Calzaghe, there is nothing he can do to earn your respect.

Why waste time fighting over rared soft american hopefuls when he can retire and enjoy life?

He has nothing to prove to anyone, he's fighting his career just like anyone else.

Most of these critics are either kids who spend too much time in their bedrooms or unhinged fools who can't accept cold reality. Or both.

Or perhaps go back to the year 2000 and tell Jones to fight Calzaghe instead of his usual bums...
