there is a point where what you do in the ring overshadows your resume, in ruiz's case it was being boring as **** and failing to impress....ever.

im talking about vitali because vitali is still around and vitali's (call it a loss but it was more of a loss for lewis than vitali) match with lewis was more meaningful than anything ruiz ever did.

if your talking about physical gifts , skills , etc. he can't match up to vitali and wlad.

you're going off subject. i said match up their resumes and you start talking about how vitali looked good against lewis.

yes vitali looked good. i liked vitali after his courageous battle with lennox. who didn't?

the point is look at who ruiz has fought.

toney , jones , holyfield , tua , valuev , chagaev , mccline , rahman , oquendo , golota , kirk...... that's a solid resume.

i don't like the guy but he's fought some tough opponents.

the ref is not to blame. ruiz came in with the wrong game plan and roy is too fast for him.

john ruiz has very quick hands. that's how he catches people with solid shots right before clinching.

those quick hands against other heavies are not so quick against toney and roy.

btw toney doesn't need roids to beat ruiz.

look at jirov-toney. jirov is so underrated as a cruiser...... jirov would have given ruiz hell at heavy. look at how bad he messed up an unbeaten joe mesi.

Like it or not Ruiz resume is awesome and he's fought everyone.

I would say he meets the top 30 or so. He has achieved a lot, and there is no way around that.

There have been many great heavyweights in the past 120 years from the days of John L. Sullivan, Ruiz doesn't quite make top 30 as much as he has managed to achieve with his limited talent.
