for hundreds of years it was part of the ottoman empire and later the soviet union in the early part of the 20th century 'til the u.s.s.r.'s breakup in 1991.

His culture? Armenian/Gemran, but definitely not Soviet.
Association and Affiliation? He has affiliation with Both Germany and Armenia.
Loyalty? Arthur said in an interview that the German people have treated him very well, but boxing is a "business", and Germany is his "office." Yerevan is his "home."

AS far as citizenship, he has citizenship in both Armenia and Germany, and I don't think either of the two can be better or more real than the other.

Yes Armenia does have a veryyy long history (2,000 years) and most of it has been very cruel for us due to our geographic location and being Christians in a predominantly ****** surrounding... we have still come a longgg way... maybe all the persecution in our history is what brings us so close on things as simple as boxing.
