armenia is a country now and it had a glorious history in centuries past. it was just unfortunate that it was surrounded by larger , more powerful enemies.
as far as the av and screenname...... you don't like patrick?Comment

yes it was garo. the soviet union was a country.
did armenia have it's own military? a vote in the u.n.? it's own olympic team? before the soviet union's breakup?
armenia is an old country in name only and in recent times.
for hundreds of years it was part of the ottoman empire and later the soviet union in the early part of the 20th century 'til the u.s.s.r.'s breakup in 1991.
armenia was not it's own country for a long time.
during most of the 20th century armenia was part of the soviet union. it was more like a state of the soviet union. like how california is to the united states.
First off, here is the definition of nationality: a relationship between a person and their state of origin, culture, association, affiliation and/or loyalty.
Abraham's state of origin? Armenian.
His culture? Armenian/Gemran, but definitely not Soviet.
Association and Affiliation? He has affiliation with Both Germany and Armenia.
Loyalty? Arthur said in an interview that the German people have treated him very well, but boxing is a "business", and Germany is his "office." Yerevan is his "home."
AS far as citizenship, he has citizenship in both Armenia and Germany, and I don't think either of the two can be better or more real than the other.
By that definition of "nationality", Arthur Abraham is Armenian, not German, and he is most definitely not Soviet, like you claim he is.Comment

you are great on your history man... much props to you.
Yes Armenia does have a veryyy long history (2,000 years) and most of it has been very cruel for us due to our geographic location and being Christians in a predominantly ****** surrounding... we have still come a longgg way... maybe all the persecution in our history is what brings us so close on things as simple as boxing.Comment

We have opposing views on the issue of the Soviet Union, and that's fine. Although it's related, we might be straying off a little bit. Let's look back on the original question. Is Arthur Abraham's nationality Armenian or German?

Well I appreciate your input anyway. You made valid arguments (unlike Melly-Mel).
But honestly, did you vote Armenian or German on the poll?Comment
