If you want to make an argument against the second Bruno fight have at it, but you were clearly talking about that 1st Bruno fight when you mentioned he almost "exposed" Tyson.

As I recall he was on the receiving end of a horrific TKO against the ropes at the end of that fight. That he staggered Tyson twice in round one doesn't really mean much. If you look at what was going on in Tyson's life at that time it's no shock. Didn't exactly take the sport or his training seriously after the Spinks fight (especially not from 88-90). But in any case saying Lewis was the best at that "time period" is really twisting the facts to suit what you are saying.

At that time if Bruno wasn't the best he certainly was top 3 of Britain's heavyweights.
You're being rather pedantic. Like I said, rather funny coming from someone who thought Hopkins was the best middleweight. But whatever..........Lewis was considered the most talented even before he won a title. My point was that Frank wasnt our best heavyweight in that era.

BTW its a shame you did not have the balls to say this in your original account cause its obvious by your post that you frequent this forum on a regular basis otherwise how would you be able to come to a conlusion about the behaviour of some of the Brits on THIS site

you son are just as ignorant as the Brits you are talking about, those same Brits wind me up with thier national bias but you have just proven you are no better and that you get just as exasperated as them why else would you make this ranting thread otherwise

check my sig we are not all Biased Brits you know

You didn't read or understand my post properly. You should read it again...about how there's many, not all, that act that way "the insane ones I'm referring to"....and how they are responsible for "bringing out our bad side"....

and just so you and everyone knows...this is my one and only name here....I joined in April of this year...

Basically, I witnessed the same insanity that has gone on for many years at many other Boxing boards...and after seeing enough of it again and hearing Calzaghe's latest....I decided to air it out and break it AND them down....

You jumped to conclusions, my friend.

Lets be fair, considering population size, there really shouldnt be anyone that rivals the Yanks.

But thats clearly not the case. Perhaps this thread is born out of insecurity?

That's basically it. If Calzaghe is as irrelevant as some reckon he is, why the need for millions of threads telling us he's irrelevant?

America just isn't dominating sports the way it used to, boxing, tennis, athletics et al. The heavyweight division used to be the sole preserve of America, now they don't a single relevant guy in the division. The top two men in tennis are a Spaniard and a Swiss, with barely any Americans in the top 20. The current golden boy of athletics is Jamaican. And for a nation as traditionally successful and self-confident as the US, that's all a bit of culture shock. Hence threads like this.

I see some desperate ones who are taking this hard are trying to search for angles...and just like trying to find objectivity in the bin dwelling, British Boxing fans I'm speaking of....it is an exercise in futility.

This topic I've addressed was simply born from facts pertaining to The History of Boxing, and the recognized, unsavory, hooliganlike behavior of the typical Pro-British/Anti-American Boxing fan...

You can not dispute these facts or twist them in any which way...

Here's another flavorful post for you to chew on....

In my most proper british accent, I'd like to raise a pint of Guiness to The C.E.O. and proclaim, "Here here!"

Seriously, I have nothing against the Brits. They make awesome rock n' roll, write excellent mystery thrillers, and Kate Winslett is a terrific actress and much hotter than she's given credit for.

But they (or you, if you're reading and you're British) can be some annoying sons of bitches when it comes to the fight game.

                    Here's my story:

It begins as I deboard a plane at Las Vegas airport on the night of December 7, 2007. I was in town for the Mayweather-Hatton fight. Though I was unable to secure tickets to the event itself, I was thrilled just to be a part of the weekend's surrounding festivities. I arrived with my Floyd Mayweather hatred fully intact. I prepared to vehemently root against him, and loudly cheer for the common man's man, Ricky Hatton.

But then checking into my room at the Excalibur I heard voices in the lobby. Loud voices. Singing. No, more like chanting. It didn't take long to recognize the tune I'd heard before on my TV. "There's only ooooone Ricky Hatton!" I smiled. Good times. The sounds of men drinking beer together, and I approved. But mother**** if over the next 24 hours I didn't want to put my hands around someone's throat just a little bit tighter with each successive eruption of that ****ing song. Die you ****sucking wankers!!! But I still hated Mayweather, so I still intended to root for Hatton.

The night of December 8 my friends and I entered the ballroom at the Mandalay Bay excited to watch the big fight on giant screens, surrounded by thousands of others there to do the same. The majority of the crowd was British, which was cool with me. The song was still being sung from time to time, but as discussed already, hearing it still couldn't sway my personal taste for the two fighters involved. The undercard fights came and went, the time spent watching them really more time spent gettng good and ripped. The big fight was imminent. I was stoked.

Then some girl comes on the screen and begins singing the U.S National Anthem. And the crowd in the ballroom erupts in a sea of boos. My friends and I looked at each other. You could feel the rest of the Americans in the ballroom doing the same. There weren't a ton of us, probably 25% of the room or so. But slowly, one by one we began to rise. Never a patriot by any means, I felt almost embarrassed at my showing of National pride. But like the other Americans in the room, I felt like I had to. We were compelled. And the crowd booed louder. I turned around and looked at a man sitting two rows behind me who was booing as loudly as anyone in the room. And he looked back at me with an expression of pure hatred. Really mother****er? So it's not just about Mayweather? This has to be about you versus us? Well that's just fine, cause even though I hate Floyd Mayweather's personality and like Ricky Hatton's, I know good and damn well that Mayweather's the vastly superior fighter and is going to straight whip your boy's ****in' arse.

---[A quick aside... After the fight for the next several hours that we were out at the casinos, and even a couple of times the next afternoon after we'd woken up, my friend Steve kept repeating the same general phrase to himself:
"Why did you make us do that to you? We didn't want to have to do that to you. You made us do it."]---

So just like that, for the next 45 minutes, my allegiance changed. And I and my friends all rooted for that sack of **** Floyd Mayweather. Not because we wanted to. But because we had to. We were compelled. They made us do it.

The moral of the story? There is no moral. But I haven't even gotten to the best part yet: Earlier in the day I put a few wagers on the fight. Nothing big, I'm not a rich man. Just $100 in total - $20 of which I put on Mayweather by KO 10.

It was a good night to be an American.

Yep...the Feel Good Fight of The Decade, that was...all those uneducated British Boxing fans there blindly supporting Hatton....Floyd coming out to "Born In The USA"....

December 8th, 2007. You will never forget it.
