He didn't. 168 was actually a very "Euro" division so he was in the right place...plus, he was making money over there so I agree with his decision on that, however; I've always said that if he wanted HUGE money and HUGE boost for his Legacy, he could have tried to get a fight with a Prime Roy Jones Jr. at Light-Heavyweight. But, if he didn't want that fight because he considered himself a Super-Middle only, then I'm cool with that.
Even at 160, I think Pavlik should maybe look to Germany to fight Sturm and Abraham if they don't want to come over here...as long as the money is cool on both sides.
But other divisions, like 147, come on, come to America...that's where the party is.
I want it to be a GLOBAL sport where Fighters travel the World fighting each other. It's Great for Boxing and Great for the Fighters and Fans.
It's like Kostya Tszyu: Technically, since he was Champion, he could have called the shots, but Tszyu knew the Party was in America: that's where his bitches were and that is where he made his money. If he could make that kind of money in Australia, he had every right to demand those fighters to come to him...but Tszyu was cool like that; he was a WORLD Fighter to the max.
Does that clear it up?
