  • Roy Jones Jr. Talks Bernard Hopkins, Joe Calzaghe, Johnson

Roy Jones Jr: I have had a great time training and waiting to put my skills on display. The age for me and because of the amount of punches that Joe throws (will make this the most difficult fight of my career). He is not the most ferocious fighter I will have fought but that fact that it is the time for me, and the punches that Joe throws. James Toney was probably the highest skilled fighter I have ever fought. [details]

How can James Toney be the most highly skilled fighter you fought when Bhop gave you more of a challenge. He dominated Toney...

I sense some sour g****s coming from Roy against Hopkins. He's still mad that Hopkins beat Tarver easy. Roy has more xcuses then anyone by the way. I hope you don't really believe that one arm thing.

So what, he won like every single round against Toney with ease and made Toney look like an amateur. He didn't make bhop look like an amateur. Roy is letting his emotions get to him and that is why he doesn't give bhop any credit in there fight.

Not at all- that's silly. The Tarver that beat Jones was years better than the one who lost to Hopkins. AND, as Jones knows all too werll, Tarver, who was as lifeless as a tailor's dummy, really lost because he'd done exactly what Jones had done.....taken off about 25-30 lbs of pure muscle, before the fight, and could neither move nor throw punches. That wasn't Tarver in there, any more than it was ther real Jones who just beat Tarver in their first fight.

A fighter like Jones doesn't have to be jealous of ANYBODY. I can see that you still really don't know exactly what Jones is, or what he's really done in the boxing world.

There's only ONE Jones, and a dozen Hopkinses...............

                Roy Jones....in a Nutshell...a Coconut shell....A BIG one.

And on another point, I wonder why Jones always mentions that he's the only fighter alive who's won the middle and heavyweight titles. He seems to ignore ...-as if he could or would-..... that he was also Supermiddle Champ, havong beaten Toney all over the ring to win it, and defended it about 5-6 tmes.

I suppose he's just emphasizing the weight difference (NOT differential) between the middle and heavy limits. For me, to beat Toney is a far bigger achievement than beating Hopkins, .............with one arm or both.

And he's also the only fighter alive who's won the Super-milldle and Heavyweight Crowns.

In thinking about it, for me, the only man who could clown around, be completely superior to his opponent, KO an opponent with a punch from behind his back, etc was Jack Johnson.

For example, if you look at the Ketchell fight, of which many accounts have said that Ketchell was well in the fight, you can see at least a couple of times, where Johnson hit Ketchell, and as Ketchell was going down, Johnson stepped in and clinched, actually holding him up, until his head cleared.........
