I have long asked myself this question and today during lunch a few of the fellas and I were having this discussion. To make up for the lack of protien in a vege diet vegges have to eat a mixture of things. I wonder would being a vegge benefit you as a boxer even with the lack of protien?
Does having a vegetarian diet benefit you as a boxer?

i believe several tests have shown a sports athlete who doesnt eat meat will feel more tired and perform to a lesser level than athletes who do.
A guy had a vegetarian diet over the course of a few months and switched a meat oriented one and his results where recorded participating in different things. -

ya the way i understand it is best for an athlete to have a well balanced diet with protein in the form of meat. i'm sure it can be done but i took a sports nutrition class last year and my prof said its best to not to be a vegetarian if youre a training athlete.Comment

being a veggie while not training might be good to keep off the weight, but while training maybe you'd need to switch to a protein rich dietComment

Zeljko Mavrovic is one, maybe even a vegan and if you watch his fight with Lennox he has a WORLD CLASS chin, i obviously wouldn't attribute it to his diet though
Has to be that he is Croatian, him and George Chuvalo have me convinced that all Croats are born with granite in their beardsComment

Jirov is a vegan too

My little brother randomly decided to turn vegan one day...
He said there are facts that all carnivores have sharper teeth and stomach acid 10X as strong as humans. He also said that it takes a bunch of energy for your body to digest meat, because it is harder to break down.
In essence, all signs in comparison to other animals that eat meat show that humans are actually meant to be herbivores.
Plus, you can get mass amounts of protein from beans and nuts if you try.
I think it is probably good for you. He said that you actually do conserve energy by not eating meat because of the digestion process.Comment
