I think he had a HOF career and a solid resume. But was he just a solid fighter? No. He was a majestic fighter with just a solid resume.

jones career was padded, for his 10 first fights or somethin, he went for the best, he went for bernard hpkins(the number one ranked middle weight at the time, was middle weight right? forgot) beat him, he went for james toney(he was pound for pound number 1 at the time right?) beat him, went for griffin(because griffin beat toney TWICE)
Darius(the one dude everyone says he ducked, maybe, but knowin roy he probabley did'nt accept the fight cuz darius wanted it in germany, not like roy? your right, not at all) lost to Julio Casear Gonzales & Fabrice Tiozzo. Two nobodies & then retired
Roy defeated & KO'd Virgil Hill, Montell Griffin, James Toney, Mike McCallum, Eric Harding who beatdown Tarver, Julio Cesar Gonzalez before he beat Darius, Tarver & Felix Trinidad
and weak chin? come on, what weak chin, that chin is solid enough, ever see that spinning hammer punch by toney, got jones flush, did'nt even phase him

the ko was due to fatigue

seriously, why is it so hard to believe he is a great fighter, the man was put through hell for what he has achieved, he was one of those child prodigy's

I say no ! Lets be honest their really wasn't a whole lot of talent at the time ! And No I don't believe he always had a glass jaw ! I blame some of it on the drainage from the weight loss ! But who knows before no one hit him cleanly there ! But to call him overrated I can't accept ! He was very gifted as a fighter ! And you name me who would've beat a prime RJJ and you'll see there insn't a whole lot ! And most experts would agree with ! Did he avoid ? No ! most fans are like that ! They will always criticise for not fighting such and such ! He fought at the time they best that was offered and that wasn't alot at that time ! He wanted Buster Douglas his dad was against it ! McClellen was a fight that he was willing to do ! And Benn erased that proposal ! Benn he was willing to fight if Benn would come to America ! Benn did not want the fight ! I don't blame Benn after the McClellen fight he wasn't the same and he wanted to avoid another war like McClellen and to be truthful he wasn't the same after that fight and RJJ would've easly beat him ! Calslappy was facing average fighters and had no name at the time and if RJJ and him did fight and RJJ would've beat him handily he would be critisized about that fight also !

Ya might want to look at their resume's at the time Jones beat them. They were solid and had some good wins. As a whole, Jones' resume' craps all over Joe Calzaghe's.

B-Hop was still a beast during that time and I give RJJ credit for beating B-Hop. Altough I would have loved to see a 2nd fight considering they both improved alot after
Ruiz was still a hard punching Heavyweight, i don't think many fighters could move up to Heavyweight and dominate him like Jones did from LHW.

Also, James Toney didn't look like James Toney because he was fighting Roy Jones Jr. Roy outclassed him and made him look like a nobody because he was that damn good.

Bernard Hopkins was not the number 1 Middleweight in the world when Jones beat him. Lets get some perspecitve please.

According to reports, Dariusz's team offered Jones the fight 3 times in Germany and didnt receive a single offer from Jones to fight in the US. Roy was quoted on German TV saying he'd only fight Dariusz for $10m.....

The stay-at-home thing seems like another cop out to me. Eubank, Benn and Collins all fought in America yet they didnt get close to a fight with Jones.
