I remember when the division was introduced (wasn't it by WBC in early 80's?) and we all went YUCK! I still think it's a totally unnecessary weight class

Replying to my own letter; it was the WBConeheads who introduced this **** in 1980. What the great warriors in the "jr. bantam" should do is chasing Hasegwawa for the REAL bantamweight title.

Actually, Darchinyan wants you to run from him because then he can get momentum on his wide punches. Mijares can win the fight by doing what he does best, keeping his defense tight and throwing shots right down the middle.

I like Hasegawa (but what boxer don't I?). Anyway, I think you got a point. No need for a 115 lbs division as one of Mijares & Co. is probably the best bantam in the world.

Lol no. Hasegawa makes the best title defenses at 118 and faces underrated and good competition. Just because he's in japan doesn't mean he wouldn't beat the 115 group. Infact I'd pick him over everyone, but Mijares and maybe Montiel. I'd actually bet on him against Montiel.

Also 115 is a great weight class and even though it's new, deserves to stick around imo.

Call me old fashion. Boxing Digest isn't the best of magazines, but their ratings are quite accurate. They only recognize the originally eight weight classes along with cruiserweight since the heavies (and mankind in general) have grown bigger the last century.

In a perfect world, we wouldn't have the alphabetic scumbag organizations, and we would settle with only nine, very deserving world champs at the time.
