Why do some people hate Joe Calzaghe?

Something that puzzles me, is why some people hate Joe Calzaghe. We see themposting here every day: Daggum, Flawless, DiegoFuego, TheManchine, Burner, etc. There are even Brits who seem to dislike him: Terrible, Chunk, raycorey, Duffgun, etc. Some in the American media have long discredited him, such as Max Kellerman, Teddy Atlas and Dan (Arse) Iole.

He's 45-0, he's won all the titles at 168: Ring, WBC, WBA, IBF, and of course WBO.

He had some soft title defenses (like Starie and Pudwill), but so did Hopkins and Jones, and Joe he fought a lot of good opponents and world champions as well: Kessler, Lacy, Eubank, Mitchell, Brewer, Hopkins, etc.

Strangely, once Joe defeats someone, the haters come out and say that opponent was no good (Lacy) average (Kessler) or shot (Hopkins, Eubank). No matter who he fights and defeats, some will never give him credit.

The purpose of this thread is to find out WHY.

I am not too sure, maybe it's because of his style. He is awkward and not very fundamental. He just has a very unpleasing style to many fans, particularly the way he punches. It may also be the fact that he is from the UK, and has a somewhat padded record.

The majority of people who dislike Joe Calzaghe on Boxing Scene dislike him because he gets compared to American greats like Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. He deserves close comparison, even if he doesn't deserve to be among them, and some people on here cannot accept that. They cannot accept that because Roy and Bernard are the last great American fighters.

People don't like fighters for a number of reasons. I'd wager that one of these reasons id that JOe doesn't fit into the US boxing mould very well. He fights in a very different style and many on here only get excited by the skillz of mayweather. These guys genuinely believe that judah is a more skilled boxer than tszyu for example.

Calzaghe is a great, probably somewhere 80-100 on the all-time list.

Does the Machine hate Calzaghe? I'm not sure he does.

I certainly do not hate Joe but I must admit several of his fans annoy me.

He has had a great career, beaten some top fighters and should be placed as the best SMW of all time and an ATG fighter. But is he up with the likes of Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins? Not IMO. Could he beat Marvin Hagler? Give me a fkn break.
