If Joe wins, its a good accomplishment. But you can't tell me he beat the Roy Jones who knocked out Griffin in one round. Theres just different consequences because each figher is in a different place in their careers.
Dude like T said, your prime isn't really judged by when you happened to have your best wins. He beat Lacy 2 and half years ago aswell. His ring intelligence is no doubt a lot better now but then for most fighters as they get older thats true, like Roy and Nard.

An athletes prime is usually late twenties, he had a lot more power back in the day due to his hands not being as brittle. His prime was probably a good 5-8 years ago.

i know that, thats why I said hes not his physical prime.

you can't tell me that calzaghe deserves as much credit for beating jones, as jones does if he beats calzaghe. thats all i was saying.

jones is 4-1 underdog, thought to be shot to pieces. calzaghe is a p4p champion currently.

Who honestly thinks Jones is shot to pieces? I think he's past his best, but shot? No way. If he was shot Tito would have KO'd him.

That little bit of info seems to fly over certain heads. They just want to boost up the win for Joe, that's all.

But like I said, for everyone's sake, I sure hope Jones looks good because it will be absolutely disgusting for both sides if he looks washed up and/or tentative.

that seems to be the majority opinion amongst most boxing fans I see on here and the boxing media. Jones isn't even ranked as a top fighter in the sport currently, meanwhile Calzaghe is probably the first or second best fighter in the sport.

Ok yer, just the way it's worked out though timing wise. Sure he's currently #3 p4p but he was better and capable of it years ago just a mixture of things like no in division highly p4p ranked guys and not getting fights with highly ranked guys in other divisions. A mixture of he and the teams faults, but also that of others and the circumstances/politics of the divisions though.

And not doubt about it Roy deserves loads of credit if he even gets more than 4 rounds against Calzaghe. It's more than possible he's, he's #7 or so LHW, in a way I hope he surprises a few people enough to realise he's not as past it as often made out.
