If Calzaghe beats Roy...what does it mean???...I say it means s.hit.

I agree but it's still better for Calzaghe to win. It' big money and Jones really has nothing to lose since his dignity has already been taken from him by Tarver. Win win for Jones and win lose to Calzaghe. Money is the reason i think Calzaghe is taking this fight. That and the little risk Jones poses at this time. Lets see, Jones is not very active and his work rate shadows Calzaghes, his defense is based on reflexes that are no longer there (he was hit more in his last 3 fights than the rest of his whole entire career, including the Tarver fights!) I really can't give Jones any chance unless by some miracle of God he lands flush on Zaghe and then hits him again as he comes up and ****s him up. But Jones has lost his killer instinct long time ago and he couldn't finish anyone in like 8 years. And Calzaghe is not a bad fighter so he will get that job done.Comment

Whilst Jones clearly isn't the fighter he once was I think it's naive to think he's shot. Hopkins (as well as countless other belt-holders past the age of 35) proves that age doesn't have to be an insurmountable obstacle - especially when you're fighting someone who is near the same age.
I don't believe that Jones's defeats at the hands of Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver should have ended his career. To me they were merely the signals for Jones to start respecting weight divisions instead of running up and down them like a demented hamster.
The truth is that if you keep on entering a ring with (sometimes substantially) bigger men, sooner or later you're going to lose. It's a fundamental truth of the universe. Like the laws of thermodynamics. And that's without any consideration to the quality of the opponent (and both Tarver and Johnson are quality opponents).
Yes, I'd prefer to watch prime Calzaghe (who can put people down with either hand) vs prime Jones (throwing punches from impossible angles at impossible speed). It would be one almighty clash - the hardest of both fighters' careers. But if I can't have that I'll take what's coming over a painfully lopsided match such as Ali vs Holmes.
As things stand I think we've got a bout in which both fighters' deficiencies are on the way to cancelling each others out. Yes, Joe still stands to lose more than Roy. But this is no pushover. If Roy wins he deserves to scoop the accolades for defeating one of the best pound-for-pound fighters around (certainly it would throw open a lot more doors for his career) - even if his prime passed some time ago. If Joe wins he will have done so over a far tougher opponent than people give credit in here (especially - for reasons that truly escape me - Roy fans).
I can't wait for it to start. I only wish I'd bought a ticket and flown over.Comment
