I don't believe that Jones's defeats at the hands of Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver should have ended his career. To me they were merely the signals for Jones to start respecting weight divisions instead of running up and down them like a demented hamster.

The truth is that if you keep on entering a ring with (sometimes substantially) bigger men, sooner or later you're going to lose. It's a fundamental truth of the universe. Like the laws of thermodynamics. And that's without any consideration to the quality of the opponent (and both Tarver and Johnson are quality opponents).

Yes, I'd prefer to watch prime Calzaghe (who can put people down with either hand) vs prime Jones (throwing punches from impossible angles at impossible speed). It would be one almighty clash - the hardest of both fighters' careers. But if I can't have that I'll take what's coming over a painfully lopsided match such as Ali vs Holmes.

As things stand I think we've got a bout in which both fighters' deficiencies are on the way to cancelling each others out. Yes, Joe still stands to lose more than Roy. But this is no pushover. If Roy wins he deserves to scoop the accolades for defeating one of the best pound-for-pound fighters around (certainly it would throw open a lot more doors for his career) - even if his prime passed some time ago. If Joe wins he will have done so over a far tougher opponent than people give credit in here (especially - for reasons that truly escape me - Roy fans).

I can't wait for it to start. I only wish I'd bought a ticket and flown over.
Jesus Christ. Do all you Calzaghe nuthuggers have to write NOVELS about how Jones is suddenly still a good fighter. JESUS. Joe is not in his "prime" but he's had his BEST VICTORIES recently. Jones should have retired ages ago.

STOP ****ING PUMPING UP JONES TO BALLWAX YOUR HERO.

Thank you. Your arguments are faker than Pamela Anderson's ****.

I don't think he deserves much credit if he beats Jones.

        Jones tbh is past it.

No he isn't. Watch more boxing.

He's about better than the scrubs and journeymen he beat on his comeback. Wahoo. What does that prove again?

I've watched enough boxing over the years to know never to write off supremely talented boxers because of age and/or a few sticky fights.

                Watch less MMA.

Calzaghe gains nothing from a win.. except a payday.. while he stands to lose everything should he lose

Everyone always has a chance. That's not why hordes of Joe fans are suddenly saying Roy is good. It's a phony and transparent attempt to make Joe's taking this fight seem credible.

That said anything can happen. I'm more focused on the obvious Joe fans trying to make up **** about how Roy suddenly looks good when there is NO evidence to show that to be the case.
