Ive been saying Joe is a good fighter for a long time. Just because I have problems with the guy or his fans doesn't mean I don't recognize a good fighter when I see him. At the very least you have to respect the heart that he's shown in the fights he's been in, whatever you think about the competition.

He's coming to the end of a long sucessful career and has his financial security for his family to think about, can't begrudge him looking out for his family, enjoy the pay day Joe and put on a great show.

calzaghe is a great fighter, although not quite an atg imo. winning this fight won't really prove it any further though. however, it would be bad for his legacy if he were to lose.

winning doesn't augment his greatness, but it puts a nice shiny name on the resume, the name of the greatest fighter of the last 20 years, pound for pound, regardless of what state he is in now at this point of his career.

Beating Archie Moore didn't make Ali Great, but it put a nice shiny name on his record, that when added to his accomplishments, stacks up to show greatness....

...not to compare zaghe to ali or anything, but u know what i mean.....

im not voting in that poll either. its not that black and white. it doesnt make him great if he wins, but it is a symptom of his greatness. beating roy jones, even at 39, does not mean **** either.

losing would have more serious implications than winning, but a win can not be totally discredited....

Fighting Roy at this point is all for trying to beat a big name and get the most money from a single fight. If he beats Roy (which I expect him to) it wont mean a whole lot in 2008. Roy isnt close to being a prime Roy.

Joe is really in a no win situation. If he wins, which really I think he should, they will say it's because Roy's shot. If he loses, heh, oh boy........

Jones is only one here who has anything to gain.

If beating roy now makes calslappy great, then so is glen johnson and antonio tarver. in fact so is clinton woods who ebat Glen johnson! Roy is past his best and joe know sit. He wanted ntohign to do with a prime RJJ coz he is a bum that woudl have been exposed.
