Margarito Return Eyed For Jan, With or Without Mosley

According to Top Rank president Todd duBoef, the long awaited return of WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito is going to happen in January, with or without "Sugar" Shane Mosley as the opponent. The proposed Margarito-Mosley clash has been in talks for weeks, but the fight might be too expensive for HBO to pick up. [details]

So you mean to tell me after all the money they are going to make from dlh vs pac they can't come up with enough for a margarito vs mosley fight????? How does that work? Shane states he's going to go with the one that makes most financial sense, well how is berto going to bring in a bigger paycheck then the man recognized by many as the ww champion? Before mayorga shane couldn't stop talking about a fight with margarito looks like he's turned tides. Anyways let's see a damn clottey fight then so we can get on with a cotto rematch and a showdown with williams.

Jin won't let him fight Tony. She wants him to make the most money without getting knocked out. She said she wants Floyd, Cotto and Oscar for her man.

Because if HBO is only willing to put up a 4 million dollar license fee, for example, and Margarito and Shane want at least 2 mill each, while Berto is willing to take 1.2, again for example, Shane would 3.8 vs. 2 for Margarito. In the other scenario, Mosley and Margarito want 2.5 or more a piece, and HBO is only willing to put up 4 million, leaving the promoters in the hole by a million and remember the promoters, managers and whoever else take their cut.

I would prefer Mosley-Margarito over Mosley-Berto, hopefully a deal can be worked out.

why mosley would consider a fight with berto is beyone me. What a shame the guy that was always up for a challenge is now not interested. He should just hang them up. The only fights he should consider are tony, oscar, and forrest. FLoyd wouldn't come back to fight a shane, shane lost his chance, plus shane would get his ass kicked.

I guess if the Mosely vs Marg fight doesn't happen, then Marg will have no choice but to fight Williams.

If a fight with Mosley doesn't work out I wouldn't be surprised if Margarito just fights a mandatory, maybe against Collazo or the interim champion Nuzhenko.
