Aside from the fact that Calzaghe - like most established belt-holders - has fought and defeated fighters ranging from average to good/great I fail to understand how you manage to discount a bucketload of successful SMWs over the last 20 years and place Ottke - someone who has benefited from the worst excesses of biased judging as well as not having a resume of similar quality - behind him at number 2.

Inform me who were these good/great fighters you mentioned ?
And again another fails to see my point ! IF YOUR GONNA JUDGE A FIGHTER BY HIS MANY DEFENSES AND BY FIGHTS AGAINST AVERAGE BOXERS ! THAN YOU MIGHT AS WELL MAKE OTTKE NUMBER 2 !BOTH FIGHTERS FOUGHT AVERAGE BOXERS ! AND BECAUSE YOU THE FANS BASE CALSLAPPYS ACCOMPLISHMENTS ON THESE FACTS MIGHT AS WELL MAKE OTTKE NUMBER 2 !

Eubank, Kessler, Reid, Lacy & Hopkins are/were classy opponents.

Sure, I suppose you can pick them apart because of X, Y & Z reasons. But you can do that with just about any boxer if you're so inclined.

you could make strong case for both "yes" and "no".his accomplishments at SMW are probably better than anyone else, but is it so because he is great fighter or because he stayed in SMW long enough.if RJJ or Toney or both would have stayed at SMW would their accomplishmenst been even greater?
yes.prime RJJ or prime Toney would whoop prime JoeyC's ass at 168.

so my answer is.... no,he is not.

sorry about my english today,I'm quite tired

Eubank = damaged goods clearly past his prime !
Kessler = Good boxer that has fought no one ! But I'll give this one to you !
Reid = A fight that is highly debated ! Who did Reid fight anyway ?
Lacy = A young inexperianced boxer who was'nt even tested !
Hopkins = 43 years old and clearly past his prime !Yet the best slappy could do was slap his way to a SD !

WOW ! Your right ! very impressive !

Yea, I know those guys, problem is they didn't do enough damage to be considered a great SMW Champ.

Accomplishments yes, Joe is the best super middleweight of all time. Still think a prime Roy would of beat him at 168 or 175 do.Him and Toney also would of been one hell of a fight.

So Lennox Lewis is greater than Joe Louis because he would beat him heads up? Vitali Klitschko is greater than Rocky Marciano?

I agree. Toney would beat him though I think.

Fighters from different eras vs. fighters that fought near around the same era.

                      Not the same.
