I'm just sayin, calzaghe doesn't really need dawson, maybe the other way around. Plus cazlaghe is 37 and dawson is a young 26 year old new champion. On the other hand, hopkins just beat a young 26 year old new champion which really boosted his legacy so much further.

With that said, I still think calzaghe needs another big win to cement his career. I mean, I'm just not satisfied with a split decision win over 43 year old hopkins, a win over 40 year old Jones (most likely) and Kessler. But it's his life, his career, his legacy so its whatever to me.
Yeah I mostly agree, but I think Dawson looks to be the man who will dominate 175 for the next few years.

The win might not look great now, but in years to come it might be seen a bit like Sanchez beating Nelson, or Jones beating Hopkins (not saying Dawson will be as good as those two, but I do think he'll do well).

Oh I would definitely appreciate/respect Calzaghe a lot more if he fought Dawson after Jones. I think you're right in that it would definitely look great on his resume when it's all said and done. But I do see his reasoning for not wanting to take the fight.

It's the only fight that makes sense if Calzaghe decides not to retire.

I still think Chad needs one more big win to make the fight with Joe more appealing. It really surprises me that the Yanks havent got behind this guy - he has it all. Yet you get behind a one dimensional hypejob like Pavlik. Makes no sense.

Pavlik was hyped up and promoted a lot. And has been on HBO his last 5 fights I believe. Dawson hasn't got **** for hype/promotion and has been only on Showtime his last couple fights.

You raise a great point. The mark of a great fighter or even a good one shows...BEYOND THE HYPE.

If an opponent is really good, it shows.

Take a look at Bernard Hopkins, Clinton Woods, Julio Gonzalez for Roy Jones. All of those went on to do good things after fighting him - even James Toney did.

That's why it's troubling that young fighters such as Jeff Lacy have gone on to do absolute **** since Calzaghe. If Kessler isn't careful, he won't be far behind.

It would be nice to see Calzaghe take on Dawson and it's the fight I've suggested from jump. But then again, I believe he may have his hands full with Jones.

No offence but thats a pretty lame comparison.

Hopkins, Woods and Gonzalez werent expected to destroy Jones easily only to take a 12 round demoralising pummelling instead.

That has nothing to do with the point. Ok, they weren't expected to. They still went on to do even more than the guy who was.
