If you're familiar with Chris Eubank's career, you'll know that he had a very good chin, and Calzaghe was able to knock him down with virtually the first punch of the fight.
Obviously Calzaghe doesn't sit down on his punches as much now, but if we're talking about how the hardest punch that each is capable of, then Calzaghe>Malignaggi P4P.Comment

After watching the 24/7 on RJJ/Zaggs last night, I'm leaning more toward a KO or TKO win by Calzaghe. He said himself that he did the "pitty-patter" thing against Hopkins, and that he fully intends to put serious force on his punches in this upcoming fight (something I've said in previous threads that he might decide to do). If that's the case, some of you guys should look at Calzaghe's earlier career. Very few of his fights went the distance, most never went past a couple of rounds.
The guy has some ****, whether anybody believes it or not. You can't hurt someone to the body like he did Kessler and not be able to punch a little. And seeing Lacy's face after their fight, nobody can believe that he didn't catch Jeff with alot of shots with a decent amount of power.
Yeah, I'd have to agree that his KO's are usually more from accumulated damage than big, 1-punch power, but there's no way to acrue damage if you don't have a decent amount of power on your punches.Comment

I'm actually more surprised at how his punching technique and power has decreased from his prime. Usually Power stays with you until the end but Calzaghe's faded around the Lacy fight, if you watch the Brewer, Mitchell fights then Watch Manfredo, Lacy and Kessler. His technique and power is pathetic compared to his former self.Comment

Joe Calzaghe hits ****ing hard, you kidding me?
I don't understand you guys. Sure he slaps when he flurries (and has since as far back as I remember) but when he sits on his shots...OUCH. He tagged Hops a few times and you could tell the old man didn't like it. And I get the feeling Calzaghe will be looking to sit on his punches a lot more in this fight.Comment

Calzaghe can hit, but at this point with his hands it's not worth it.
He breaks his hand, he probably loses.
Hopkins and Roy Jones aren't Evan's Ashira. Joe could definetely hurt Roy and I think he'll have to otherwise Roy will bring out a bag of tricks and get too confident.Comment
