well rounded my ass. they know a little bit of boxing(very little with those piss poor punches) and little bit of wrestling. which for some strange reason equals a MMA superstar

A lot of the big MMA names are in big financial distress, it's a fad and it will fade with time. A sport can't stay alive if there is nothing to follow. I tried to follow it but half the time I have no clue who the oponent is of my favourite fighter, and he usually randomly knocks him out.

Like who was Gabriel Gonzaga?..suddenly he he knocks Mirko Filipovic (sp) out and all of a sudden he's an elite fighter...that loses to a 40+ year old man...you can't follow it I'm telling you.

I actually train and am competing (amatuer) in MMA now, but agree with you 100% on this. I would rather watch boxing because I've done it and followed it for so long. But its not just that, its its history.
You can follow a lineage in boxing and it makes sense. MMA just doesn't have that history to make it as interesting in my opinion, and you casn't keep track of who beat or lost to who. That said, I enjoy watching it and love training in it, but it will; never replace boxing.

i have watched it a few time on tv and i dont see what the big deal is. for the fist minute they throw piss poor punches, then the rest of the fight is 2 guys rolling around on the ground. the call it brazilian ju-jitsu to make it sound cool or make people think its a skill. i dont see why people love it so much. i hear MMA fans say it a generational thing( older people like boxing and younger people like MMA ) Well im 26 and me and all my friends perfer boxing over MMA anyday. So once again, is it just me or does MMA suck!!

The concept of a sport combining multiple disciplines(MMA) is better compared to boxing. What makes MMA so boring, especially the UFC(these days its the only game in town) is that the majority of its fighters are former college wrestlers and only know how to do one thing in the octagon, and that is to ground and pound their opponent, and if that doesn't happen then its pretty much like watching Brokeback Mountain.

The majority of UFC fighters are limited even in their ground skills, and that's when all the huggin' waitin' for the ref to stand 'em up strategy comes in.

Well I was at a bar last night watching it, and the way the main event went down, everyone in the bar was booing or just not paying attention. I've always said it lacks a type of consistant action that boxing has. I mean you get your slugfest fights once in a blue moon in MMA, but that's just it. If I wanna see guys stand up and trade, I'll take boxing instead.

Exactly man, the huge majority of unskilled fighters in MMA is what makes it suck not MMA itself. MMA is a great concept.

I don't know about y'all, but I find it amazing whenever someone like Rampage Jackson is caught in a bad position on the ground and is able to just muscle his way out of it and ends up slammin' his opponents like the Incredible Hulk throwing cars around, other fighters would've simply been on their way to tapping out. Same way with BJ Penn, the man has a million and one ways to escape from a bad position.
