I would like to see Scully get a shot doing a live commentating job. He's got excellent insight of the game. But the one I think is the best (no disrespect John) is Joe Mesi. He's also got excellent insights and and is very well spoken. Jmo.

yeah Mesi was great both as an in-studio guest and when he sat in with Joe and Teddy for a portion of a fight.

Though I dislike Tarver the fighter, I always thought he'd make a great announcer as well.

I am a big fan of Friday Night Fights and Teddy Atlas. He's very passionate. But Roy Jones was the man with the HBO crew. They went from about a B+ or A to an A+ when he was there. It was pretty damn close to being inside the actual fighters' heads.

I'm not thrilled with most of that group. Foreman was all over the place. Jones was biased. Steward is all about making himself sound right. Atlas knows what he is talking about, but is way over the top. Scully shows a lot of promise and I'd like to see him get a chance. Tarver and Hopkins both would be excellent, but only once their own careers were over. HBO never should have used Jones while he was still active. That's a built in conflict of interest.
