Paco Denies Miguel Cotto-Michael Jennings Rumors

WBO President Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel has shot down rumors of a bout being put together which pits Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico and Michael Jennings of the UK for the vacant WBO welterweight title. There has been "speculation" of such a fight based on Williams, the WBO champon at 147, making a decision to face IBF junior middleweight champ Verno Phillips on November 29. [details]

this would be good for Cotto, it would give him a strap if he wins, he could present something to the table in a rematch with Tony as opposed to just a rematch and make it worth both their while. I'm sure Cotto wants to be champ again and if he can fight this guy and win the belt then he can enter the rematch as a champion and not a freshly dethroned ex champion against Margarito. I think Cotto will defeat Margarito this time only because he understands what he did wrong, he acknowledged that maybe he couldve gone to the body but just didn't see it and said he will attack the body in the rematch.

thing is not to make excuses or nothing but Cotto wasn't in the nice nice with his trainer/uncle, they barely spoke to each other and I even heard that it went as far as Cotto training by himself a few times. they have put that all behind by what I hear, they moved forward and are now more productive, the worse part is over, they weathered the storm of defeat and still walked out with the drive to continue, it made him and didn't break him mentally so now all thats left to see is if physically he still has it. I think he will respond well to defeat, his confidence is too much so even IF (and to ME thats a VERY big if)he losses the rematch he will look great, a lot better than last time. now with him and his uncle functioning again like professionals amongst eachother he can make amense and come back strong which I think he will. maybe this is UK kid is a good fight for him.

After the way Margarito stopped Cotto and then Margarito were to fight and get past a Shane Mosley while Cotto beats an unknown in Jennings, it makes the rematch look like a wipeout.

pump come on man what way? corner stopped the fight...cotto was whooping margarito for 6 rounds right adjustments, plus cotto bringing the WBO would be better than the first one with WBA AND WBO TITLES UNIFIED.

Should be interesting to see what happens. I don't think it matters whether Cotto brings a belt or not to this rematch with Margarito. What is important is that he brings his legs, focus, ability and heart.

Lets not be mistaken, Margarito, while can be beaten by rangier and stronger fighters, is a perfect foe to Cotto. Margo is Cotto's Forrest. With that said, I think Cotto should fight Cintron and then fight Margo in June. A feburary date is crazy and should not be considered AT ALL!! We all believe that Cotto at his very best can defeat Margo, lets see if Cotto will allow him to take his glory once again.

The corner? Cotto was done. He took a second knee without a punch even landing and he looked to his corner and they came up to stop it. He was too busted up to continue.

Damn BigPoppaPump how u figure? Cotto was whippin that boys ass. it wasn't up until like round 10 or 11 when Tony even caught any lead because for the whole fight he was getting punched in his face. Cotto TOOK 2 knees meaning nothing other than himself brought him down to the floor, he was exhausted and was runnin on E but no way did Tony O.D on him, all Cotto had to do was stay in front of this guy and **** with smarter punches but all the movement drained him. Tony is good but don't make him out to seem better than that, he a tough brawler who can do 12 hard rounds but that don't make him a better pugilist. if Cotto brings a belt to the dance it will make it better for any boxing fan and if Tony beats Mosley it can only add hype, nothing would seem like no wipeout.. he took 2 knees due to exhaustion, STILL got up to fight and his corner stopped it. no harm no foul.
