Hopkins did lose to Taylor and Calzaghe though, because he didn't use the right style: throw combinations.
For most of the fight he did, he just followed it up with decent combinations after he realised all Pavlik was going to do was cover up and not hurt him.

The fact that he was able to throw at Pavlik without anything coming back in return, IMO, strengthens the argument that something was indeed wrong with Pavlik that night. I know B Hop is slick, and makes guys look bad. But Kelly just didn't throw ANYTHING, even during times when B Hop was standing still and taking a breather. Didn't that strike anyone else as odd? I mean I know getting hit by B Hop would make Pavlik a little gun shy, but if I recall Pavlik got hit just as hard by one Jermain Taylor in the second round of his 2007 fight, going down in the 2nd, and he had no problem coming back and throwing plenty of punches in response the VERY NEXT round. so it was more than just Hopkiins shutting Pavlik down. Pavlik was not himself, something was definitely wrong with him, whether it was the weight, or an injury, or bronchitis, whatever. There is no way he only throws half anf many punches per round with no snap on them unless there was a serious problem. I wish I wasn't the excuse maker, But the guy opposite of Hopkins Saturday wasn't the Kelly Pavlik I've seen before.

if hopkins had adopted the same aggressive style had for Pavlik against joe or taylor he would have had his ass handed too him on a silver plate. simply put joe and jermaine would have preferred it that way as it would have allowed them to fight off the back foot and use their superior speed to counter.

i cant believethat some people just dont want to give these 2 fighters credit for beating b-hop they insist that b-hop himself defeated himself on that night - cant you see that it was their style that made them awakward and ultimately victoious over b-hop?

Hopkins already explained why Pavlik didn't throw back. And if you watch the ight, you'll agree.
