Anyone else think that this weekend makes Danny Williams' resume look even better?

    Danny Williams>Mike Tyson>Brian Nielsen>Ross Purrity>Wlad>Sam Peter>James Toney>Michael Nunn>Merqui Sosa>Glenn Johnson>Roy Jones>Bernard Hopkins

If people dislike Calzaghe because of the way he fights, fair enough. But if insulting other boxers is something that these guys hate so much, why the love for Toney, Miranda, Hopkins etc.
By the way, don't take whatever I say about Calzaghe into consideration. I'm lettin you know I hate him. Atleast I got my hate under control

Listen Ali Toney Hopkins can all talk **** they backed up their words. Title defenses, beating prime fighter and winning titles in other weight classes(not including Ali).

Calzaghe is a joke and is nothing compared to these guys.
As has been pointed out 21 title defenses, titles in two weight classes and taking on prime fighters in Lacy and Kessler.

I think Calzaghe's record is at least as good as Hopkins'. Oh he stayed in Europe and fought bums and wouldn't dare to face the "Iron" Andrew Council or "Sugar" Howard Eastman sure. But both guys made their name beating second tier fighters and while Hopkins had the advantage of beating two superstars who had their best days at much lower weight divisions (and who, it has to be said, would have been dispatched by Calzaghe in similar fashion) both guys spent a lot of time making soft defenses and only stepped up their competition late on in their careers. Toney's is better. But that's hardly the point we're making here. What there is is a huge double standard. "JOE IS DISRESPECTFUL, HE IS TALKING TRASH, HE HAS NO CLASS!"... "LOL JAMES TONEY SAID THAT SAM PETER LOOKS LIKE A MONSTER!"

I just don't like that Calzaghe is kicking Pavlik while he's down, there's an element of truth to what he's saying but I don't like the way in which he's saying it.
I'm not keen on it either but it is in response to Pavlik and team making the same tired comments about Calzaghe that people have been saying for years. He's defending himself essentially.

Despite being a fan, I can understand why some people dislike Calzaghe. What I don't understand though is how certain posters are so critical of what he is saying, and yet have sigs and avatars devoted to the boxers mentioned above, all of whom have a history of talking trash and being disrespectful about opponents.

I'm not keen on the kind of comments that Calzaghe has come out with about Pavlik. I'd also like to see Cal and Hop finally move on from their fight and stop making petty comments about each other.

I much preferred the way Hopkins acted in the buildup to the Pavlik fight to the way he acted towards Calzaghe. I think that Ali was out of order in how he behaved towards Joe Frazier. So to me, my views on this are consistent, but that doesn't seem to be true of everyone else.

Am I am overlooking something, or is it a case of double standards from some of you?
You're overlooking the fact that he's a dork and his trash talking just SOUNDS lame. People probably just don't like how he says it. He sounds like a complete nerd.

That being said probably a lot are just Calzaghe haters.

So you think the difference is that Calzaghe isn't as good at trash talking, whereas the rest are?

I think that has to be an element yeah. That mixed with the fact that people already hate his ass yeah there would be a huge backlash.

Like I said just mix it with the fact that there are tons of haters. It's like if you have a guy you totally don't respect and think he's a joke talking **** to you in real life. It would irritate you a lot more than a guy you think is worth being afraid of respecting.

I don't think Calzaghe is a great trash talker, he's my favourite fighter but the man is a geek.

My girlfriends a bit of a geek, I'm a bit of a geek. My friends are geeks. I like geeks.

It's probably simply because they don't like Calzaghe so they are more critical of what he says. If you like a fighter, you tend to let **** slide even though you know it's disrespectful or whatever. When a fighter you don't like says something you don't like, you tend to be critical of it.
