But to say that Joe wouldn't even be worth tying Roy's boots in his prime? I mean, surely he'd put up more of a fight than most of Roy's comp?

im thinking joe will win by decision but i am kinda hoping roy can beat him and then beat hopkins again.if roy dont come out scared to throw punches and is in good enough shape he can win but will he? roy is not shot like alot of people think.

it's a real slap in the face to Joe that people are picking a shot Roy to beat a prime Calzaghe

Yeah, but is that a condemnation of him, or just that people don't know jack ****?

Most of the people voting still think Roy's in his prime.

Roy Jones, at his peak, was considered top ten or top 20 ATG material.
I believe Joe 's guard would have been penetrated by Roy's fast powerful accurate punches. What Calzaghe could dish out, would be far less than what was coming back.
So no.In my opinion, Joe would not be able to do as well, as well as the likes of Toney or Hopkins, against Roy, in their primes.

PS it did pass my mind that you could have mean that, but I chose to consider otherwise

I just don't see that - with the possible exception of Hopkins - that Roy fought anyone as good as Calzaghe in his prime years. I'm not saying Zag would WIN, note, but considering Roy had some fights that went long...

Part of the problem with Roy being an ATG is that he never proved it against decent comp. I look like Muhammad Ali when I'm shadow boxing in the shower.

RE: Toney. I don't consider him to be as good as Zag in terms of being a Roy opponent. Obviously the guy has skills, but stylewise it's a nightmare match up for him, as we saw.

Joe isn't in his prime, but he's a hell of alot closer to it that RJJ is.
