Kelly Pavlik needs a new trainer asap

I don't believe Jack Loew can further develop Kelly. He needs a trainer to show him new things.

Kelly's biggest asset is his consistency, which has gotten him this far.

I understand Jacko and Kelly have great chemistry but that can only take you so far.

Billy Graham/Ricky Hatton all over again. But sometimes continuity is important.

I still scratch my head how a 5'3 travelling musician has been a perfect trainer for his son, despite basically just swatting up on the sport and reading alot of books.

Maybe Loew needs step his game up. Youngstown looks every bit as boring as Newport, he should have plenty of will power to improve as a boxing trainer.

The problem is that I dont think Loew is capable of doing that. There's only so much you can learn as you go. He hasnt been around the sport long enough to know certain tricks of the trade, you know?

Has anybody else noticed his advice is always the same during a fight? Double the jab, and throw the right hand. While that is really good in most cases I don't think Lowe knows anything else to tell him.

Loew should probably bring someone else in and hang around. That would make sense if his pride can take it.

yeah man, it's the same tune every fight.

That's the problem, Loew doesnt seem to know boxing.

I mostly agree with you but....it seems the same 4/5 trainers hog all the best fighters.

And you know what? Beristein, Roach, Floyd Sr and Steward have had fighters who have lost too.

Emmanuel Steward would probably be a good fit.

TBH, it isnt so much that Pavlik lost, it's that Pavlik looked like he was drowning in there. Loew didnt know what to tell him in the corner, what adjustments to make, what he was seeing,etc.etc.

I would feel the same even if Pavlik somehow managed to slide by with the decision.

Lowe may have been exposed as much as Pavlik was.
