TheManchine has been discrediting Vitali's great performance last week by saying Sam Peter is **** - he's a certified Vitali hater like Thread Stealer. Peter was Ring #2 heavyweight, a powerful puncher in his prime and WBC champion.

Pavlik reminds me more of Jeff Lacy than Peter (I'm not putting him down, I like Lacy). The fight last night reminded me of Calzaghe vs. Lacy.

I always thought Peter was horrible but I haven't taken anything away from Vitali's win. I didn't think he could be so dominant after a 4 year layoff, just like I didn't think Hopkins could be at 43 years of age.

It's a fact that Peter's best wins come over a fat old middleweight (Toney) and an inactive 39 year old Maskaev.

Miranda and Taylor were ranked higher at the time.

I like the guy, his style is very odd but works, but maybe he had a bad day or met someone that could react to his scientific form in the ring. Who knows. It happens to all great boxers, even Ali and Dempsey and Tyson. Happens to them all. The only guy ever to beet Gene Tunney was Harry Greb or something like that and I only know two people that fight like him, my uncle and my brother. Both are undefeated on the street, even against as many as 5 opponents, but for some reason they never got into competitive boxing. They freak out when fighting and do not stop until the opposition cannot move anymore. They naturally move very quick, much quicker than so called quick people, move constantly, and throw constant full body punches when fighting. A peak Dempsey, a peak Tyson, had that ability. Who knows man. Who knows.

All I know from fighting and sparring is that when you go nuts with punches most people go into defense mode, or when someone clocks me hard I throw 18 hit combos and then jump away to get a quick breather. It works great, but there is always that one guy that can take your punches and nail you hard when you run into it. They are rare, but they tend to win. If you study these great fighters that lose, they tend to lose because of that, and because their heart is not in it. That is as far as I understand it. I will figure it out someday, but right now do not have the brains or the experience to find a answer.

Pavlik is simply a better fighter than Peter in just about every way.
