Let's all agree now. Calzaghe is an ATG.

I like the way people are saying styles make fights as if it completely excuses Pavliks loss, and undermines Hopkins win. Pavlik was 4-1 over dog and most expected him to win even by stoppage, most on the boards too. Do don't go changing your minds now folks.

Calzaghe performed badly and beat Hopkins. Either side of that fight are wins for Hopkins, one over Winky, one over the LHW #1, the other over top ten p4p and very well favoured undefeatd Pavlik.

To those that say Joes best win is over a 43 year old Hopkins, it's not, and at least he beat him. It's a 26 year olds worst loss however, barely won a round. No way would he beat Joe.

I am a big Joe Calzaghe fan, but I just don't think he has done enough to be considered an ATG. A couple more big wins to end his career could change that though.

How people can say that he isn't a hall of famer is a joke. The man is the best SMW of all time and is surely secured his place in the hall of fame.

              agreed

I just cant fathom how some people say Pavlic would beat Calzaghe !
Pavlick would get beat worse against Calzaghe IMO !
And his fight last night against Hopkins compounded it for us!
Pavlic just dont fight well against crafty counter punchers, infact he didnt have a clue did he! ?
How could anybody possibly pic him against Calzaghe whos younger/fresher and moves even better then hopkins is beyond me!?

If you mean me, styles do make fights and I do believe Pavlik was simply schooled last night because of Hopkins awkward and very active style. In no way should anyone dismiss Hopkins, he is 43 and just beat an undefeated 26 year old middleweight champ. I thought Pavlik would win because of Hopkins last performance against Calzaghe, were he could barley keep up the pace. And because Pavlik is known for throwing punch after punch, I thought the fight could play in Pavlik's favor.

Bernard was washed up when he fought Joe, then became prime when he fought Pavlik.

It's simple, really. Conditioning and size. I figured Hopkins, at 43, would no longer be able to reach the level of conditioning he needed to keep Pavlik off him for the entire 12 rounds. That's the only reason I picked Pavlik. And I don't mind admitting I was wrong.

This fight makes me rethink my own level of conditioning. Hopkins is my age.
