There's also the respect factor. Do you think Hopkins will be a little bolder? He criticized Joe's lack of power so bad I wonder if he'd try to be brave enough to walk through the onslaught. I'm still a little perplexed by that. He spent so much time going backwards and throwing one at a time against a man he claimed couldn't punch.
I think the whole thing with Bhop saying Calz has no power, yet being on the backfoot the whole night, wasn't cos he in actuality was scared of Calzaghe's power. I think it was moreso because he knew Calzaghe was an accurate puncher.

He walked towards Pavlik tonight, and at some moments he amazingly had Pavlik on the backfoot (I thought I'd never see that happen). Thing is, Pavlik has no handspeed and his angles are so goddamn predictable. Joe punches from all angles and has great accuracy. Sure he might not throw the same weight into his punches as Pavlik does, but he can hit for accuracy.

I think something was wrong with Hopkins when he fought Joe.He knocked the guy down and stoped punching. It sure as he wasnt anything Joe did..because he didn't do **** but fall in and flail like a DROWNING SPIDER MONKEY.

Despite looking horrible that night..HOPKINS STILL WON..The judges ****** ass because Joe didn't land any scoring punches and got dropped on his ass and hurt several times.

That wasn't the first time they stuck it to ol' B-Hop.

Hopkins strayed from his normal regiment and he got tired.

Joe didn't do nearly enuff to win the fight.

Say what you will about that fight. The bottom line is that the fight was really close regardless of whether or not you think Hopkins won that fight.

I personally saw Calzaghe edge him out purely on workrate. I'll concede the fact that Hopkins was the cleaner and more accurate puncher that night. BUT, Hopkins lost the fight for himself moreso than Calzaghe won it. Basically, I felt Calzaghe deserved the W more due to Bhops inactivity rather than his own brilliance. Still, a win is a win. I bet Pavlik could agree with me on that one...

You can say you hate Calzaghe cos he slaps or whatever, but if you can't appreciate Calzaghe's skill as a boxer, then you're just a hater in my opinion.
I posted that on page 2 of this thread.

Calzaghe will never get respect from half of this forum simply because half of this forum is dumb. The real people will judge Calzaghe from his style, record, acheivements in the ring, and base their view of him on that. The haters will just pick apart records and cite boxrec, based on their own one dimentional view of boxing.

Joe Calzaghe record will be able to be put into more perspective now, and he can retire after the RJJ fight happy. No matter who BH beats, JC will always have that victory over BH.
No one can say JC only fought over the hill opponents now. But BH keeps suprising everyone. Sure he is a spoiler and that is why he has lasted so long and hasnt been knocked out. But he can still box when he wants to.
BH will go down as a great but how highly he will be rated will cause confusion because he has bored people to tears at times, but at other times has shown his stuff.
