It comes down to one great fighter in Calzaghe beat another in Hopkins. I know some refuse to give Cal credit but he did beat Hop, it was close but nowhere near a bad decision. The 1st Taylor fight should have gone to Hop but it didn't, Cal did more to beat Hop than Taylor did in the first fight. Calzaghe looks very good after this fight.
Does Calzaghe's Stock Go Up Now?

His stock has to go up, as much as I personally don't like it, he got the decision against Bernard. However, you have to speculate that a Hopkins throwing that much and isn't getting tired halfway through the fight is trouble enough to get a big win against Joe.Comment

His stock goes up because of a dreadful performance and controversial win over Hopkins?
...right.
Guys, this was a different Bernard. Older, yes, but BOLDER and much more motivated than the Slappy fight.Comment

Of course it goes up, even if it was a close decision win for Calzaghe. Because Hopkins just schooled the guy that a lot of people said would beat CalzagheComment

No, the difference tonight was the opponent, not in Hopkins.
He wasn't able to do all that to the slicker, quicker Joe Calzaghe, without being countered by Joe's faster hands.Last edited by The Hammer; 10-19-2008, 12:30 AM.Comment

If Hopkins had fought that fight against Calzaghe and lost i would give respect to Calzaghe but even in fighting a scrappy fight its still not 100% that Calzaghe cleanly won that fight, so no his stock doesnt go up these are 2 diff Hopkins we have seenComment

Lol its starting already. "Hopkins was shot for Calzaghe but he was prime for Pavlik". Funny as ****.
Hopkins fought like that against Calzaghe because Calzaghe made him use his legs for all 12 rounds and his constant pressure and throwing punches wore Hopkins down. Joe WON the fight. Even if you think it was close, he WON.
Pavlik didnt land a glove - punch or slap - on Hopkins all night. He didnt win a round and got absolutely taken to school.Comment
