On the inside Toney's superior defensive abilities take over and his ability to create incredible angles and leverage for his short punches would see him scoring too regularly for Joe to get enough done.
    Bingo.

On the inside, Toney would slowly shut down JC, without getting tired or hurt in the process.

JC's best bet is using a lot of movement, Joe is not ****** and that's what he would do.

Toney would have beaten Calzaghe in their respective primes, he's too good a counterpuncher.

        [QUOTE=boxasmash;4192321]vs southpaw Reggie johnson[QUOTE]

Joe has never faced..much less beaten..a fighter half as good as a prime James Toney.

Joe had his chance to fight the best prime fighters..but he chose to hide in Wales behind his WBO crap-strap.

Joe would have been ****d by a prime Toney.

It would look like Vince Phillips vs that ***** in your avatar.

Nothing close about this asswhipping.A prime Toney is no Tokker Pudwell.

JT would roast the Welsh Rabbit.

Reggie Johnson was an excellent fighter, even up to 175 he was pretty solid. He beat Steve Collins and dropped JT. Both of those were good fights.

I think if you wanted to make this kind of thread you'd choose Dave Tiberi instead of Reggie Johnson...unless you really don't know who Johnson is.

Toney takes this easy, I've said it before and i'll say it agaian Joe C is vastly overrated. He's a good fighter but he's not great, he is HOF material tho based on his recent showings.

                  1. That wasnt a prime James Toney
                  2. He came back after a rough first few rounds in that fight and cleanly won imo. Against a very good fighter.
                  3. It proves that Toney's first four title fights were better than any stretch of competition in Calzaghe's career.

I think prime Toney would beat Calzaghe.

James Toney come on well late in this fight, i think its ridiculous to put up one round of a fight where James Toney got caught, and judge only that one round and say Joe Calzaghe wins based on that.

Because if we are using that flawed logic then you might aswell say, because Joe Calzaghe got dropped heavily by Kabary Salem who was only mediocre fighter and had no power. I guess James Toney wins based on that one round where Joe Calzaghe got caught ?

And the difference is Reggie Johnson was a solid fighter, his only convincing loss was to a prime Roy Jones when he was older, all his other losses to Jorge Fernando Castro x2, Antonio Tarver, John David Jackson, James Toney, were all debatable and you could make a case for Reggie Johnson maybe only having 2 losses on his record.

But onto this fight i think James Toney wins because he is an excellent counter puncher, Joe Calzaghe often leaves himself wide opening when he is throwing wide combination punches. And James Toney would lay on the ropes lure him in, and counter effectively, Joe Calzaghe would not hardly land any real effective punches in the entire fight IMO.
