I have to strongly disagree with you. Calzaghe is elite, but Toney in his prime would have him for lunch.

That is not prime James Toney. He fought poorly in that fight and was nowhere near as effective at 160 as he was at 168. At 160 the weight limit took a fair bit out of him. When he moved up to 168 he was far more active and better able to utilise his fantastic skills. If you want to see a prime James Toney I suggest you watch him against Iran Barkley.

I don't know about James "having Joe for lunch". Even in his prime Toney had a habit of making fights a lot closer than he perhaps should have and Calzaghe is very smart in there.

I would pick a prime, focused James Toney at 168 to beat Joe, but it would be a close fight.

Alright well I mean Toney on a good night, and I dont think it would be that close a fight. Calzaghe might win a couple rounds on work rate alone, but Toney would be completely unhurt and Calzaghe would probably have his bell rung several times.

I don't think prime Toney woulda owned Joe C, but he woulda beat him.

If it were a Prime Calzaghe that used straigh punching and had a powerful left hook combined with his workrate I think he would have beaten Toney at 168. I don't think he would hurt him but he'd have enough sting in his jab to keep Toney at distance and then jump inside where he works best.

I feel prime for prime it would be a close fight that could go either way.
