1990's were a time of the Heavyweights

In the 90's they had a few heavyweights that were worth remembering.

    Lennox Lewis
    Rid**** Bowe
    James Toney
    Chris Byrd
    Larry Holmes
    Mike Tyson
    George Foreman
    Evandar Holyfield

In the new millenium, the Heavyweights are far and few between

The Kiltschko's don't have the flare or finesse of the other heavyweights in the 90's

We say this now, but back then we were bashing that crop of heavyweights too. That said.....yeah, I think the 90's were better. If not better, by far more exciting.

The 1990s heavyweight division was great, it was loaded with talent.

Excellent period for heavyweights some great fights and great fighters although there was a short period in about 1994-1995 when the division had some poor champs, just watching the atmosphere at Tyson Holyfield compared to the big fights in german is funny.

James Toney wasn't at heavyweight then and Byrd had yet to really make a name in the division, but you could throw ion Micheal Moorer, Bert Cooper and Tommy Morrison as fighters who helped make the division an exciting one.

Equal to the 70s for all-time best in my opinion, people tend to overrate the 70s slightly due to the legendary quality of the names at that time. The 50s are also underrated though it was more of a cruiserweight division with many greats coming up from light heavyweight.

There were some good fights in that period, it probably lacked the marquee name at the time but there was no shortage of talent or very good fights in that period. That atmosphere was electric.

thats what i was going to say, also golata was a good heavyweight then too.
after tyson went to prison it seems that even the top heavys like holy and bowe went downhill remeber holy lost to moorer and had the heart troubles bowe got his ass whooped by golata even though he won. and the champs were somehow the lesser heavys like bruno, mccall, botha, seldon, ect. i guess that shows don kings influence in those days.but when tyson returned holy and lewis got back on their game and everything turned around.
