uh...ya he was....Lewis ripped the guys face apart enough for him to have to temp. retire. Those were punches that caused the gashes. By the way the worst cuts you couldn't even see. I read the ones in his inner mouth were so bad they had a hard time stitching it together properly. I was rooting for Klitch and he was very competitive in the fight but he lost fair and square. He is the best heavyweight now though. he would beat his brotha'.Comment

the byrd fight and lewis fight he was ahead on the cards
he injured his should with byrd and suffered cuts with lewis

I"ll start off By saying Lennox Lewis was a Great Champion, He's beaten alot of our favorite Boxers, he's also avenged any and all of his losses, which were few. With that said Vitali Klitchko's shining moment IMO was losing to Lenox Lewis in such a valiant manner. You watch and you realize he almost won, almost. If you're not a great champion I dont think you should make judgements on how a champion decides to win a fight. Lenox escaped with less damage winning fewer rounds and the victory due to stoppage of cuts inflicted on his opponent. Vitali the valiant Knight lost while being ahead on scorecards, winning more rounds, and leabing the crowd with the perception he put on a better show, but having suffered deeper wounds physically(cuts) and practically(losing the fight).
To me its comparable to a prpphecy because that was his hardest fight and toughest opposition. Lenox Lewis retiring was what made him King to the public and I would say peers.Destroying Samuel Peter after a 4 year retirementonly cements that, he is indeed a great HW Boxer and champion on the same level as a Lenox Lewis.Comment

i think you're missing the point of this thread..i never said the loses werent legit..i said cuts and injuries stopped him..no man ko'd him or beat him on points and in both those fights he was aheadComment

The fact is that Vitali was easily winning the fight with Byrd, until he injured himself. Although it goes into the record books as a Byrd win, it had nothing to do with anything Byrd had done.Comment

The Ali vs. Liston fight has nothing to do with the Vitali vs. Byrd fight anyway. You're using a somewhat clever but unfair and illogical argument to discredit a European fighter, as you often do.
The fact is that Vitali was easily winning the fight with Byrd, until he injured himself. Although it goes into the record books as a Byrd win, it had nothing to do with anything Byrd had done.
No need to get upset about that loss. Vitali proved he was a warrior in the Lewis fight.Comment
