Serious question: Is it a consensus in the UK that Floyd won because of Joe Cortez? Most people here seem to think that it was mostly negligible and that Floyd beat Hatton at his own game, but UK fans seem to be obsessed with Joe Cortez now. I would chalk this up to nationalism, but most US fans wanted to see Floyd lose. Did the media coverage over there focus on the officiating?
Which contributed more to Hatton's KO. The punch or the ringpost?

No not at all. But its a consensus around the whole world that Cortez ruined the fight as a spectacle and gave Ricky even less chance of winning than he had in the first place. The media over here did focus on it as a factor (as did most of the media across the globe) but not the sole reason. Most of the British media praised Mayweather's brilliance and said he outclassed Hatton.Serious question: Is it a consensus in the UK that Floyd won because of Joe Cortez? Floyd beats Hatton almost every time in my mind. I picked Floyd to win and he'd probably beat him in a rematch. But the fact is, I dont feel Hatton was given a completely fair crack. If he was ever gonna have a chance, he needed at least a nuetral officialComment

Emanuel Steward said it was a check-hook immediately alfter it landed.God, I can't stand that use of the word check hook. Mayweather says it outta his ass and all a sudden everyone starts saying it. He ****ing landed a left hook! THATS IT! Whenever someone lands a left hook, do you hear that bull****? It's so ***in lame and just another word for the Floyd losers to use. What contributed more to Hatton's KO you ask? How about the fact that a man wasn't fighting in his weight class and it clearly showed? I mean ****, I hate Hatton and Floyd and having to defend the guy pisses me off. If Pacquiao loses to Oscar, you wanna know what contributed to it smart guy? Wait...here it comes...HE WAS FIGHTING IN THE WRONG WEIGHT CLASS.
Floyd had to hear Steward call it a check hook if what you're saying is true.
A Check hook is different from a normal left hook..it's like a check-swing in baseball.
It's not a fully extended left hook...hence the phrase check-hook.Comment

Ricky has been helped by the Ref his entire career...no sense whining now.Comment

Errrr.......no, they said they were pleased with Cortez's appointment. They had no say in choosing the ref.
Im pretty sure you cant justify your second statement so I wont even bother addressing itComment

LMAO @ "glancing blow".I think you have to ask yourself, would Hatton had been in as bad of shape had he not gone headfirst into the ringpost after the punch. The punch that Floyd through was not intended to KO Hatton. It was more of a glancing blow that he threw, while trying to get out of the way.
If the ringpost wasn't there, Hatton would have landed in the third row. He was done. His head was way ahead of his feet. His head spun around. Perfect punch.
