He was sliding out, because that's what a "check hook" is. You hit the guy with a hook when he's coming forward and slide out.

It takes great timing to do it effectively.
Im not saying that it wasnt an effective punch. All im asking really is if you guys think Hatton would've been as wobbley as he was had he not hit his head on the ringpost following that punch. As for the actual punch. Floyd threw it as he was moving. He didnt land it, THEN slide out.

      The ringpost sure didn't help.

But Hatton was already tired, and getting his ass kicked. He took a terrible beating in round 8. He probably didn't see the punch coming (left hooks come at angles that are harder to see, which results in more one punch KOs than any other punch).

Ringpost or not, he was ****ed. The ringpost just added to the damage.

Mayweather had been trying to land that check hook all night (Manny was commenting on it as early as round 3), but it just wasn't quite as clean. That same hook with about a minute left in round 8 hit Hatton, not quite as hard, but stunned Hatton, and then PBF unloaded on him in the corner.

Hatton needs to stop with the leaping left hook. He got caught again when doing this, against Lazcano, and got hurt by it.

Neither, he got knocked out about 22 seconds later by a left right combo..

Hatton actually got up and fought on after the ring post thing. He had Mayweather trapped in the corner and Cortez ran in agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain

Cortez helped Mayweather right til the end.

No choice for "accumulation of elbows"?

God, I can't stand that use of the word check hook. Mayweather says it outta his ass and all a sudden everyone starts saying it. He ****ing landed a left hook! THATS IT! Whenever someone lands a left hook, do you hear that bull****? It's so ***in lame and just another word for the Floyd losers to use. What contributed more to Hatton's KO you ask? How about the fact that a man wasn't fighting in his weight class and it clearly showed? I mean ****, I hate Hatton and Floyd and having to defend the guy pisses me off. If Pacquiao loses to Oscar, you wanna know what contributed to it smart guy? Wait...here it comes...HE WAS FIGHTING IN THE WRONG WEIGHT CLASS.

No, it's a check hook because he landed it as Hatton was coming forward and Mayweather hit him while sliding out.

Mayweather's a small sized welterweight and kicked Hatton's ass because he is simply a better fighter.

If Pacquiao loses, it's not because DLH is the better fighter than Pacquiao (at least not in 2008). It'll be because of the size difference.

                  well said

and let it be known Hatton offered to fight Mayweather at 140 and even at a catch-weight

but Mayweather refused both and insisted on 147 as well as making the ring two metres wider, fighting at home and having the ref in his pocket.

It's called clinching to buy time and that's what fighters do when they're hurt. What do refs do? Break it up. LMAO @ you saying that Hatton "trapped" Mayweather, he was hugging him in the corner hoping to recover, he was already done.
