Chad Dawson Looks Awesome In Trumping Tarver

By Jake Donovan - Six months ago, undefeated light heavyweight Chad Dawson showed some *****s in his armor in struggling to a decision win over 39-year old Glen Johnson. On that same night, Antonio Tarver turned in his best performance in ages with a whitewash over Clinton Woods. [details]

great work Jake. Boxing needs to evolve with new faces. We're living too much in the shadow of the good ol days. Dawson has emerged as the LHW division's freshest and best face. Its time to get the ball rolling.

I've seen some negative posts about Dawson but I didn't feel he put a foot wrong tonight. He looked sharp, fast and composed. He paced himself well and still had bagfuls of energy in the 12th round. He outclassed Tarver and put his below par performance against Glen Johnson behind him. I really feel Tarver should call it a day on his career. He's been a great boxer and great champion and has had a great career but he didn't challenge Dawson at all tonight and looked like he had nothing left to give!

i agree. i said dawson would win on workrate alone. tarver has looked sluggish in all of his fights since the hopkins fight......i guess w/e they used to drug him for that fight, still hasn't worn off.......lol

but i enjoyed the fight. i think tarver is a good fighter, but he's always had too big of a mouth in my book, and as a fighter, tho good, never was as great as his mouth was......he talked alot of **** before this fight, and it was nice to see him basically helpless for the most part in there.......

but its kinda hard to tell him to retire when hopkins and roy jones are still at it. the old guys just need to stay away from the really young, fast guys- that can actually BOX.....

idk, i thought hopkins had a chance to win next week, still do, but after seeing the way tarver was basically just outdone and undone, i wonder what we'll get outta hopkins next week, against a truely BIG puncher in pavlik. sure he should be able to beat hopkins on workrate alone, but going for the KO is intriguing considering thats his game and hopkins has never been ko'ed....at the same time, that could be pavlik's undoing next week.....

I'm 1-1 tonite, but I had fun watchin my 2nd prediction go to ****. I thought Glen got a raw deal against Dawson, but Chad made up for it wit this win. Gotta give him props. He won and did so decisively enough this time that he can't get denied his shine. Cong**** Chad.

              Well Done

Chad looked very good tonight.....Tarver was throwing alot of what appeared to be pity pat shots, his punh had to snap to them at tall, even when he was warming up in the dressing room, i saw that he had nothing on those shots either.......I give him credit for finally facing Chad, Chad did what he needed to do in terms of giving up his WBC title to secure this fight.....I'd like to see him in there w/ Calzagheto see how Joe would handle a busy fighter with snap on his punches......What is going to hurt Chad is that he's not known, he may have to go to Joe's hometown to get a matchup against him......Cong**** Chad!!!!

dawson showed tarver way too much respect.
i thought chad was saving up for a 10th round and on assault.
tarvers legs were gone and arms were weary. so tired he was just pitter pattering away.
dawson let him get off the hook!
but it was a safe ud.
this fight makes me question dawson killing instincts!

Dawson always looks good, but the Johnson fight gave me the impression that he would have troublke with Tarver's power. Turns out I was way wroing. On to HBO Chad goes? I think so.

Tarver should retire. He looks painfully slow.
