Vitali Really Whupped That Ass!! I Cant Believe Peters Quit On His Stool, He Does Not Have The "you Gotta Kill Me For My Tittle Attitude"" More Like ""here You Go Sir"",, I Cant Believe He Had Nothing For Him!!!!

Why is everyone so surprised? Sam Peter is at best a B fighter. He has no reach and is a very easy target for a taller fighter. He was only in shape for his debut fight.

While Peter was clearly outboxed and beaten it didn't seem like he was badly hurt at any point in the fight. Certainly not hurt enough to quit on his stool. It makes me wonder if he called it a night so he wouldn't have to be embarrassed listening to Jimmy Lennon read a whitewash on the cards.

Peter's a decent fighter but he certainly looked like a bum last night. Vitali had something to do with that though. He MADE Peter look like a bum, something his younger sister Wlad was incapable of doing. Before Vitali retired he was at least a credible Heavyweight champion; something none of these other guys have been. It speaks volumes though about the current Heavyweight division that a fighter, no matter how credible a champion he had been, could come out of a four year retirement and without any tune-ups immediately grab a titlebelt in his first fight back.

Say whatever you like about the Klitchko brothers, but those guys never, and I mean never in a million ****ing years, step into the ring in anything other than perfect shape and completely prepared to fight 12 rounds. That, I think as much as anything else, is why they're as successful as they are. If the rest of the division would take that example and run with it (and don't get me wrong, many do, but not enough), the heavyweight division would be great again, and might even start making it to regular primetime TV again. Am I the only one that misses tuning into ABC and catching a heavyweight title fight at 8:00 PM on Wide World of Sports? Seems like the last 10 years or so, the division has become a hiding place for guys who don't want to spend much time in the gym, but still want a paycheck. Again, not all, just some, but enough that it hurts the sport.
Wide World of Sports has a real nostalgic touch to it. I'm with you on this. I saw many great fights with great fighters on this show.

I alsom agree with your lack of concern for a "Universal Champ" We have BETTER than that.......

                    we have TWO Universal Champs..
