By Cliff Rold - The Heavyweight division received good news and bad news Saturday night at the O2 World Arena in Berlin, Germany. It’s most marketable fighter, 37-year old Vitali Klitschko (36-2, 35 KO) of Ukraine, returned to the ring after a 3 ½ year absence to reclaim the WBC Heavyweight belt. Klitschko’s long layoff produced no rust and he fought with the timing of a fighter who’d only shortly vacationed. [details]

yes! i finally watched the fight without any black outs from streaming.
vitali completely dominated. man, in history of heavyweight boxing, that guy, klitschko, in the ring today would give anyone fits. anyone!
so sharp. he quadrupled up on a jab! he tripled and doubled punches regularly. peter - well, i could not even see if his eyes were open by round 5.
masterful performance. if u didn't see that, then kick yourself in the balls now!

Good for Vitali. I don't hate peter, but I ain't liked him since he robbed Toney the 1st time. Now let's hope brittle ass VK fights maybe 1 more time then retires wit his belt again, get's the **** outta the way, and lets Wlad have the spotlight since he's helthy enough to keep fightin. Time for more Henny now.

You guys are never satisfied.
I don't think that thec"universal" moan about a recognised heavyweight Champion, is as universal as the writer and some others tend to portray. And tp pretend that the last "Universal Champion" was Lennox Lewis is just plain wrong. For the vast majority of his Championship tenure, Lewis was only the WBC Champion. He held 2 oth the other titles very brirfly, either bring stripped or relinquishing them.
During his WBC Title reign there were 3 other Champions, each one of wgghich Lewis avoided. They were Chris Byrd, when at his peak, John Ruiz when at his peak, and both Klitschko brothers, who held the EBO title except during a very brief interregnum during which Chris Byrd held it.
I don't know what these guys are even complaining about. It's years, since Mike Tyson (and Evander Holyfield, who beat him) since there was a Universal Champion, one who'd beaten every other champion for his belt. And it hasn't done us any harm.
Instead, today, we have boxing history, in that we have THE FIRST AND ONLY PAIR OF WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION BROTHERS both Champions at the very same time, which has NEVER before happened.
We have the 2 very Best fighters on the planet at JOINT NUMBER 1. And they are so supreme that we can't even hazard a guess as to who might have a chance to beat either of them.
What could be better than THAT?????

I don't even give a **** about unification anymore, to be honest, if I ever did at all. I just want more exciting fights between big guys who ACTUALLY BOTHER TO TRAIN, AND COME INTO THE RING IN GOOD SHAPE. Say whatever you like about the Klitchko brothers, but those guys never, and I mean never in a million ****ing years, step into the ring in anything other than perfect shape and completely prepared to fight 12 rounds. That, I think as much as anything else, is why they're as successful as they are. If the rest of the division would take that example and run with it (and don't get me wrong, many do, but not enough), the heavyweight division would be great again, and might even start making it to regular primetime TV again. Am I the only one that misses tuning into ABC and catching a heavyweight title fight at 8:00 PM on Wide World of Sports? Seems like the last 10 years or so, the division has become a hiding place for guys who don't want to spend much time in the gym, but still want a paycheck. Again, not all, just some, but enough that it hurts the sport.
