No one is steamrolling Bernard Hopkins until he's washed up completely.

I did'nt mean to step on anyones toes w/ my opinion, because that's all it really is until fight night. I really don't think he's washed up completely whatsoever, but I cannot see him being competative with Pavlik after rd. 6. Kelly is def. no Calzaghe. The bluprint of how to beat Bernard was displayed with Taylor and KP does everything the same as Taylor, except better. I just hope it's not a complete cakewalk. I don't want that to happen for sure. $49.99 is alot of scratch.

Yeah, Pavlik is going to be looking for the KO because...that's what he always does. Tito did it for the same reason. Similarities end there.

Pavlik is slower than Trinidad but a lot more educated at this stage - and at this weight - than Tito was. Plus, what he lacks in speed he makes up for with a high workrate, steady jab and a reach that eventually finds it's target.

Hopkins will probably have to hurt him bad or stop him in order to win. I'm not sure he can wear Pavlik down the way he did Tito. Pavlik is a big guy. If he's active he'll keep Hopkins at the end of his punches and may eventually catch the old man as he leans back. We'll see. It's a good close fight but I'd give a slight edge to the younger, busier fighter.

I agree with alot of what you said.I think Hopkins can pull this off though..

However lets us not be fooled here, there is no point in him having this fight but to be a stepping stone for Pavlik en route to a Calzaghe clash which is what everyone wants to see.

Personally i just hope Bernard doesn't play brave and if he goes down, he stays there and live unscathed to fight again for a Dawson or some other young star needing a bigger name. Because that's what he is now.
            bernard hopkins: a stepping stone

i thinks thats the big question, will hopkins's body be able to do what his mind wants?

we must also remember hopkins is now a lt. heavyweight, and even though their not fighting at lt. heavy, pavlik is still moving UP in weight wheras hopkins is moving down......hopkins is the bigger man here, as was with trinidad.....

i agree. hopefully he'll retire b4 it gets to that point. i think this fight will be telling...whether or not he should keep fighting. personally, even if he wins, i'd like to see him retire, unless he can get calzaghe again......

i agree. i just dont think hopkins will offensively be enough to win a decision against pavlik....does the old man have 1 KO left in him?
