im sorry but in that fight roy looked far from shot...i know its prince badji but it was a great performance in a come back fight..he embarrased a strong pressure fighter for the nabo title..he did the right thing and worked his way back to title contention..hate on him all you want but roy is not the definition of shot..arturo gatti was..roy was a prime example of gun shy..if he lets his hands go he can definatly beat calzaghe and by a wide ud...

One of the rounds in Tarver III showed he wasn't shot in that fight either.
He was throwing beautiful combinations, and beating Tarver up when he was letting his hands go... he was just so ****ing gunshy. -
after the tarver ko he basically stopped throwing punches..from the badji to the trinadad fight he eventually started letting his hands go more gaining his confidence back..no he's not prime roy anymore but hes far from shotComment

He fought with his old style a lot more against Ajamu, he still got pushed back and didn't fight off the ropes that well in that one, his hands were low but he kept Ajamu at distance well, Ajamu had his best success in the first round when he was very agressive against Jones, he stopped doing that after the first round and let Jones get the distance to let his shots off, Jones also landed some very good body shots in that fight, Ajamu had to go the hospital I think for peeing blood.
He developed better defense against Hanshaw, saw some of the turtle shell defense in that fight, he also fought off the ropes better, countering Hanshaw off the ropes, which was how he hurt Hanshaw but he got caught a bit, had swelling over one of his eyes, but ree****yalus said Jones had swelling on his eye already prior to the fight and it was just made worse in the fight so I won't take too much from that.
Trinidad fight, saw much more use of the turtle shell defense, used his jab effectively, thew decent combinations.
Anyways, I wouldn't take too much from those fights apart from Jones developing better defense fight by fight and also his activity level in all 3 fights weren't great, they were OK but they weren't great.Last edited by Silencers; 10-07-2008, 09:51 PM.Comment

Ummm... no.
I think Calzaghe will win this one due to activity. I am a huge Wright fan, and I always thought Calzaghe would beat Wright due to activity, and I don't think Roy is as good at using the Winky defense/counterpunch style.
I just put a small bet on Roy out of loyalty, because I like him better than Calzaghe, but I'm expecting him to lose.
I would probably pick Glen Johnson to beat him in a rematch too... A lot of activity is the best answer to a defensive based fighter who relies on blocking, and not movement for their D.
He is better than a lot of people think though, for sure.Comment
