If Vitali wins this fight, he will likely retire, and that will open up the possibility of David Haye and JC Gomez fighting for the vacant title. Neither are Don King fighters, and either would be EAGER to unify with Wlad!

Vitali exemplifies good sportsmanship and physical fitness. You've never seen him resorting to rabbit punches and other illegal tactics. And he's an exciting fighter, in contrast to the plodding, boring Sam Peter!

Moreover, if he comes back and wins the title at age 37 after four years of inactivity and injuries, that's a historic achievement - Vitali will become something of a boxing legend!
I think Vitali wins by TKO - although the WBC is the worst heavyweight belt right now...Peter beat freaking Maskaev to win it...that's pitiful

That being said, I don't see how having a WBC champ who's on record saying he won't fight the WBO/IBF champ is a step towards unification

And I don't think that unification is a big deal because if Wlad holds all the belts, one of the Big 4 will end up stripping him.

How long did Hopkins & Taylor hold all 4? Just a couple fights then it all went to ****...

      Good point.

Like they stripped Lewis, because of Don King's intervention.

So...we should root for Vitali who, after winning the title, held it hostage by pulling out of a defense four times and then retiring? And then rubbed shoulders with the WBC so he could gain that BS champion emeritus title? So he could take 25 years off and battle for the same belt?

        Yeah, that's GREAT for boxing.

No thanks - I think I'll stay away from either cheerleading section this time.

its even worse for boxing that a man can be inactive for 4 years and walk right into a title fight.
it would then make boxing look like more of a joke if said man then went on and beat the heavyweight champion of the world
so no, rooting for Klitschko makes you a poor boxing fan ass hole

I don't even care about the politics of boxing, or even unification...the titles, to me, are meaningless for the most part. All I give a **** about is having competetive heavyweight fights between two fighters who are in good shape, not ******ed or insane, and who are willing to give it everything they have, both in camp, and during the fight. I'm not necessarily rooting for Vitali to win, but I know he's going to, and in my opinion that'll be better for the division than Peter, who seems to be getting fatter every year, has the mental maturity of a 7 year old, and gasses by the 6th in every fight (except against Wlad, for whom he actually bothered training and getting in great shape). That's not my idea of a "heavyweight champ".

i think that is an unfair assesment of peter, culture and language has created a barrier between him people. i mean when he sed who next his accent was so thick that it became a point to laugh at.
i could turn around and say well wlad doesnt engage and hangs back to avoid being hit like a ***** and that isnt the kind of heavyweight i want. peter doesnt seem to be getting into great shape but he is still winning and gave klitschko a run for his money as well. i think its all too easy to point the finger and criticise him
