Well he did go after Ibragimov, and I doubt he has any problem facing Peter again, since he already beat him once.

If Valuev keeps the other strap, I don't see how that fight doesn't get made at some point.

Unfortunately the only times these organizations sanction unification fights is usually big payoffs, like Lewis-Holy, the middleweight tourney starring Tito, or any other big name star that holds a belt or 2 and wants more.

agreed, 4 recognized champs per weight class only adds to the confusion.

but look at it from the organization's perspective .. big payoffs aside, why would the WBC for example want to risk losing it's champ to the IBF? and make the org look weaker (if that makes sense) granted the winner is still a WBC champ and the WBC can still get money from sanctioning fees

I dunno you make a valid point, I really don't get why these Alphabet orgs are so against having a unified champ. There so caught up in there own thing, with mandatories and there own champs, interim champs and making money off of WBC related events ... be it Eliminators or fights.

sure having unified champs helps the sport long run, but I don't see any of the Org's doing a damn thing about it.

**a ''perfect world idea'' I had was that say the WBA joined up with WBC

and the IBF with the WBO .. for example

all the respective WBA champs would face WBC champs in title for title Unification fights

and same goes for all the IBF champs and WBO champs.

anyway since the WBA would be joined with the WBC to work as 1 org, once all the WBA vs WBC match ups went down .. the belts would STAY like that .. if u get me

same goes for the IBF + WBO

hey it's not perfect, but it cuts down on recognized belts from 4 to 2 if you get me.

Dog if anything if your rooting for Klitschko in this fight your a poor boxing fan. Dude is up there in age and could be done for all we know. He is constantly postponing fights due to injuries, he's had a history of quitting in his fights, he get's cuts easily but has only had one fight stopped due to one, he has never fought a unification fight in his life and he's not all that active fighting twice a year. No doubt Peter has flaws but I said it how it is and I'm hoping Peter wins the fight.

Wlad has been trying to unify the belts, but Don King prevented him from fighting Valuev in 2006. King's fighters include Peter and Valuev (co-promoted).

That's why if Vitali wins then retires, then the chances of unification are better. Either JC Gomez or David Haye would love to have a shot at becoming the unified heavyweight champion, and no one would stand in their way. But King will never allow Peter or Valuev to do it.
