Everyone he could possibly want will be booked Margarito, Abraham, and Pavlik. If he settles for unification match, Sturm, or Paul Williams thats also a possibility.

I think Forrest would jump at that opportunity. The question is if there is enough money and a TV network that wants to invest in it.

I actually think he would pick him apart and was shocked at how HBO was so impressed with Martinez. He looked good but look at who he was fighting, he has that kind of technique that would cost him against a boxer who can exploit it, and Forrest definitely has the tools. Martinez mainly reley's on his speed and Forrest showed against Mosley that he knows how to offset that with a consistent jab and throwing straight punches.

What Forrest showed against Mosley was six years ago. It means almost nothing now. Forrest has always avoided fighting southpaws, and he won't fight this guy either. Martinez doesn't really resemble Mosley at all in the ring anyway. You take away the Mosley wins and Forrest's career is very non descript. If they do fight I'd be willing to put my points and my money against Forrest.

Exactly. Vernon hasn't beat anyone except for Shane. If he doesn't fight Martinez, then he will fall into obscurity. He would have lost his belt and HBO would have lost their interest in him. Even Showtime would have to make him step up his competition. Either way, Forrest is sure to lose in 2009. Too many punchers for him to avoid. And if Pwill comes up, its lights out.

Forrest showed against Mora that when hes in shape, hes one of the best fighters in the world and still has the same ability and offensive arsenal that he had even in his prime. Without any flukes like lack of proper training, Mayorga was actually the only one to beat him. Any fighter struggles against a good southpaw, but it doesn't mean that they are going to automatically lose. Tommy Hearns didn't fight a recognized southpaw before he went up to light heavyweight and beat the best light heavyweight and southpaw that was going at the time, Virgil Hill and he won virtually by shutout.

Also i will be glad to put money on Vernon. Martinez is a southpaw version of Mora with a bit more snap in his punches.

no he is not. He showed he can beat a light hitting sporadic limited boxer but to say after this fight he is still one of the best in the world is a reach.

and still has the same ability and offensive arsenal that he had even in his prime.
no not even close. He still has a problem with pulling the trigger, he has lost a step, and IMO is a tad slower than his heyday at 147.

                  and Ike?

no but he has even admitted it to his own promoter that he would prefer not to fight a southpaw.

Tommy Hearns didn't fight a recognized southpaw before he went up to light heavyweight and beat the best light heavyweight and southpaw that was going at the time, Virgil Hill and he won virtually by shutout.
good point but then again Vernon is no Tommy or do you think otherwise?

Also i will be glad to put money on Vernon. Martinez is a southpaw version of Mora with a bit more snap in his punches.
the fight is doubtful it happens but I can definitely offer up some of my e-coin I guess

I thought Forrest looked like **** against Mora. All he did was get by a fighter who had to drop two pounds quicky and was expected to beat the first time. Martinez brings a lot more to the table than Mora. We'll see if Forrest even takes the fight since the limit is soon. If he doesn't, there's your answer. If he does, we can do business.
