A great fighter take what the other fighter gives him. A great fighter does nto make any excuse when he loses. A great fighter fights the guys everyone else ducks and hides from. A great fighter goes for the KO even when he is ahead on points. A great fighter admits when he made a mistake and corrects it the next time out. A great fighter bounces back froma loss to regain his greatness...So to answer your statement sir Cotto is defintely a great fighter in the making let us see how he comes back from defeat......Lefty

cotto should've just went into potshot mode... he was throwing too many combos...

margarito has never been stopped by a body attack and margarito always gets stronger as the fight progresses.

cotto should've known that from the jump.

I disagree with your first statement.

Sounds like he needs to work on slipping and countering.

it depends on who you're fighting and on your own skill level.

only the most skillful of boxers can create their own openings and set up their opponents.

cotto is not one of those types of fighters... he's a puncher who likes to go to the body. i guess if you take away his body attack he is much much less effective.

With that being said (the bolded part) Do you think Margorito laid the blue print on how to beat Cotto?

If the blueprint means dropping your hands to protect your body while eating headshots then I guess that would be a yes. I just don't think any other welter could have carried out that type of a strategy to fruition without getting KTFO.

No because I feel Cotto can beat more than one way. Margarito just showed one way it can be done. Truthfully how many fighters do you think can put up with the shots Margarito took in the first 5-6 rounds? I was not that high on Cotto before the loss but I can admit there are probably less that 5 fighters between 147-154 who could have taken those shot from Cotto that Margarito did and keep coming like that.

Fair enough...I was just asking..You're right I doubt any other person would take that onslaught like Margorito did...I give props to Margorito for his chin because Lord knows....any other person would have gotten brain damage. I mean Cotto was landing some DAMN good shots and Margorito took them and keep coming...If Cotto has any chance of winning in the rematch he needs to watch the first fight between Margorito and himself to understand that:
                    *He cant Ko Margorito
*Pick his spots and stay the hell of the ropes
                    *Clinch
*Prepare yourself for 15 rounds (I know its a 12 rounds bout but training for more rounds will probably get you ready for a 12 round war)
*Dont try to trade with Margorito
*Last but not least FIGHT SMART!

I said this that Margarito is just not a good matchup for Cotto. When Margarito realized that Cotto's best shots could not hurt him thats when he became even more aggressive attacking Cotto's body and throwing vicious uppercuts. Its kinda hard to attack when your opponent is walking through your punches and attacking you nonstop. Margarito just got inside on him and his work rate tired out Cotto and the uppercuts not only landed hard on Cotto but blocked Cotto's attempts at trying to attck the body! **** not only was being beat physically but he was getting in his head most importantly as well
